Becoming a DevOps Engineer with Capita Education Software Solutions in Bedford :

The SIMS8 development environment is making significant steps forwards in its automation and continuous integration pipeline as the business moves towards a highly flexible and reactive continuous delivery model.

The DevOps function is key to the success of this strategy and you would be joining a team of highly skilled and enthusiastic engineers and developers driving to achieve this goal.

You will be involved in supporting both onshore and offshore development teams, owning and developing continuous integration pipelines, working with and enhancing the infrastructure automation processes and being jointly responsible for the monitoring and alerting of the system.

What you will do :

  • Own resolution of infrastructure & deployment related issues on the CI Pipeline in both live and pre-production environments
  • Provide key pipeline and application support to onshore and offshore colleagues
  • Increase automation of existing CI pipelines reducing deployment times and increasing stability
  • Development and continued tuning of new deployment pipelines using AKS, PAAS, SQL Azure etc
  • Engineer systems monitoring capability including development of telemetry to enable pro-active systems protection
  • Stay up to date with the latest tools and techniques and make a positive contribution to the DevOps backlog and roadmap.
  • Management of Azure resources with a focus on cost control and saving
  • Work closely with the release manager to facilitate frequent releases to production
  • Work closely with the security team to ensure data security and GDPR compliance at all times
  • Produce and maintain relevant system documentation / wiki articles
  • Your experience will include :

  • Previous experience working in a DevOps environment
  • Significant experience of working in a Continuous Integration / Continuous Delivery environment
  • Ability to manage complex, multi-solution, multi-dependency deployments.
  • In-depth knowledge of Microsoft Azure technology stack
  • Experience with PowerShell scripting, SSL, IIS and SQL Server
  • Windows server management & configuration
  • Networking (IP Protocols, DNS, Firewalls, Domains)
  • Experience of pipeline management / CI tooling using Microsoft VSTS.
  • Experience with containerised deployments using Docker
  • Solid understanding of the need for customer data security and GDPR compliance
  • Desired

  • Selenium & automated testing infrastructure
  • AppInsights & systems monitoring tools
  • Experience with .NET stack development
  • Experience with microservice architecture
  • Unix operating system administration
