As the Product Owner, you will be the subject matter expert who owns the delivered functionality and any associated user experience of the system (or current initiative) from definition to implementation and optimisation.
You will take the high-level priority from the Head of Product / Lead Product Owners and determine the detail of what needs to be delivered, along the prioritisation of those elements which will deliver maximum business value as early as possible.
You will ensure that prioritisation is carried through to delivery, working with the development team to navigate dependencies, blockers and compromises to make sure all decisions are made with the overall initiatives’ success in mind
As the representative of the product’s or initiative’s stakeholders within the eCommerce team, you will translate business objectives into clearly articulated requirements and user stories, ensuring teams in every stage understand the overall business objective and how the product will be built to realise said objectives.

Key Duties and Responsibilities :
Commercial / Strategic
Accountable for fully realising the business benefit for outcomes assigned to you, including any dependencies from other teams that are needed for you to deliver the desired outcome.
Accountable for defining objectives and KPIs for the product / initiative
Ensure development is prioritised to deliver maximum business value
Creation and validation of business cases that underpin the product / initiative, with clear definition of opportunity, costs, and benefit
Represent the voice of the customer and business in day-to-day decision making with development.
Support the Lead Product Owner in developing the overall domain / initiative vision and objectives
Support the Lead Product Owner in defining the domain roadmap, ensuring that your products / initiatives are scoped support the longer-term vision.
Maintain alignment between the business objectives and product development throughout the entire product lifecycle.
Accountable for the delivered functionality and user experience from definition to implementation and optimisation
Take an active role in the Experience discovery of initiatives and products, working closely with the Experience Designers and Researchers to define the product strategy, which will inform the final product scope.
Prioritise development based on maximum value to the business and user.
Own and drive user story creation and backlog prioritisation, working closely with developers and testers to remove ambiguity.
Undertake any business and / or systems analysis to highlight any impact the feature / product / initiative will have.
Make Day-to-day product decisions and / or compromises, based on your knowledge of the business, customer, or empirical evidence
Work closely with the Delivery Manager to plan iterations, releases, and non-functional requirements needed to go live.
Accept stories to confirm they have met their conditions of satisfaction
Build the team’s knowledge of the business area, encouraging and facilitating interaction
Promote the principles of continuous, and measurable improvement
Encourage and build the innovation capacity of the team by elaborating ideas into proposals allowing the business to understand the cost / benefit
Excite and motivate the Software Delivery team by sharing the value of the business objectives they are working to deliver
Assist with recruitment of new team members as appropriate
You will work in close partnership with the Delivery Manager to promote the principles of continuous and measurable, improvement
Effectively influence and communicate with both technical and business stakeholders adapting your style to best engage your audience
Work with the Product Owner community to manage cross-domain / team dependencies
Effectively communicate upwards ensuring the Lead Product Owner is aware of progress, escalating issues which affect the wider domain or business objectives
Help to build and maintain excellent working relationships between the Software Delivery team and business functions, ensuring that you do not become a sole point of contact between the two
Technical / Experience
Subject matter expertise and deep knowledge of the product - essential
Proven experience in successfully delivering measurable business value through software or initiatives you have defined - essential
Expertise in delivering value from Agile methodologies - essential
Experience organising and enabling cross functional teams to deliver to tight deadlines working without line management responsibility - essential
Experience in writing & articulating clear business requirements that have led to successful delivery - essential
Experience in completing business and / or systems analysis - preferable
