Job profile : Features Editor, IHS Jane's Defence Weekly
Reporting to the JDW editor, the JDW Features Editor is responsible for producing all of the 'back matter' within the magazine, including features, interview pages, analysis pages, opinion editorials etc.
General job duties
Commissioning and editing all the above-mentioned backmatter (including the writing of some features plus additional news material on occasions) as well as generally assisting with the production and passing-
for-press of the hardcopy magazine
Specific job duties
ensuring all previously mentioned material is produced according to the high editorial standards of JDW and passed for press according to the established schedule.
A degree or a post-graduate qualification in a related domain (such as war studies or international relations) is preferred.
A journalism degree (such as an NCTJ) would be desirable.
The position would suit an existing journalist with a strong interest (or track record in) the defence sector and excellent attention to detail.
Proven exposure to the world of defence and security is highly desirable, but the ability to copy edit to an extremely high standard is the most essential skill for the job.
Strong written English / editing skills and attention to detail are paramount. An ability to liaise effectively with contributors and other departments is also required.
