About the Opportunity

Key Responsibilities include :

  • The innovative use of technologies and development of software solutions to a range of robotic challenges to satisfy end user requirements.
  • Work on the full lifecycle of applications from design to maintenance.
  • Undertaking small and large-scale trials, involving simulations and robotics hardware and test rig equipment.
  • Keep up to date with related state of the art.
  • Work independently but also alongside colleagues and collaboration partners. Liaison with other associated departments / organisations both within and outside Jacobs.
  • Support implementation of solutions at site where required, both within the UK and overseas.
  • Presentation of progress and results in formal document formats and presentations to colleagues and project stakeholders.
  • Here's What You'll Need :

    Qualifications & Experience


  • Candidates with varying levels of experience are required and will be considered : Degree, Postgraduate degree or HNC / HND in Robotics, Computer Science or Mechatronics;
  • alternatively experience and training of equivalent standard would be considered.

  • Passionate about robotics, computer vision, human robot interaction and / or related technologies.
  • Comfortable programming in a pre-compiled language C++, C#) and a scripting language Python, JavaScript).
  • Independent and proactive, with energy and enthusiasm.
  • Good communication skills and be able to prepare clear and concise written technical reports.
  • Desirable

  • Solid background in robotics and / or computer vision, including hands on experience with robotics frameworks ROS, OROCOS).
  • Experience with computer vision applications using libraries OpenCV, PCL) and their integration with perception sensors such as cameras or Lidar, including their calibration.
  • Knowledge of Human Robot Interaction and / or experience with User Interface / Experience development.
  • Experience using simulation or game engines for integration or testing Gazebo, Unreal).
  • Knowledge of Pose Estimation, SLAM and AI theory.
  • Experience with web technologies NodeJS, React)
  • Experience in testing, verification, and validation.
