This is an opportunity for a highly motivated Advanced Occupational Therapist to further develop their managerial and clinical skills in elderly care.
The role will be based in inpatient, intermediate care services with a focus on short term rehabilitation and step-down from acute hospitals.
The candidate will join NELFT at an exciting time of change as services begin their recovery from the impact of COVID-19.
NELFT operates a wide range of inpatient and community services in the South Essex area which would allow the right person the opportunity to build links and networks with a variety of professions and services in the region.
The role will include working closely with health and social care colleagues as services are re-developed to the changing needs of the local population.
This role will be based across two sites Mayfield Unit at Thurrock Community Hospital as well as 2 wards at Brentwood Community Hospital.
Regular travel between both sites is essential. You will be responsible for ensuring that the OT service across these sites is delivered to the highest standard by working jointly with AHP, nursing and managerial colleagues.
The ideal candidate will support Band 5 and Band 6 colleagues in the development of their clinical and leadership skills and to promote the positive role Occupational Therapy can play in a person’s care, promoting independence as much as possible.
You will also support the management of a team of rehabilitation assistants jointly with the physiotherapy leads to ensure that they are working towards a patients set goals in a therapeutic and goal focused manner.
The successful candidate will need to show integrity and empathy and have excellent communication, time management skills and will have experience of working within a multidisciplinary team within an inpatient setting.
You will also need to have a full UK driving license and access to your own vehicle.

At NELFT we set very high standards to ensure we provide quality services. We require prospective employees to carry out an online literacy and numeracy test, equivalent to NVQ Level 2.

Starting with NELFT
NELFT place a great deal of importance on new starters being properly welcomed and inducted into the Trust. All new starters will join the Trust on the first Monday of each month and will undertake a comprehensive induction of up to two weeks which will include mandatory training, systems training and the allocation of equipment.
As part of the process new starters will have the opportunity to also meet the executive team, senior managers and attend a number of drop in sessions focussing in engagement, health and wellbeing and key processes.
The induction will be held at our head office in Rainham, Essex.
High Cost Area Supplement Essex
This post also attracts payment for High Cost Area Supplement of 5% of the basic salary (with a minimum of £1,034 to a maximum of £1,791)
