The Role

We currently are currently looking to recruit an Asset Development Engineer to provide a central point of specialist consultative expertise in asset management and to Deliver sustainable asset performance and improvement both within the business and external sectors whilst maintaining a flexible attitude to a changing environment.

Asset management is a systematic process of developing, operating, maintaining, upgrading, and disposing of assets in the most cost-effective manner (including all costs, risks and performance attributes).

The overall primary role of the Asset Development Engineer is to identify, manage and advise on asset reliability, provide innovative developments, alleviate risks that could adversely affect plant and business performance and provide suitable and sustainable solutions.

The Asset Development Engineer is a professional who understands the principles of performance evaluation and prediction to improve product / systems safety, reliability and maintainability.

  • This body of knowledge and applied technologies include, but are not limited to, design review and control; prediction, estimation, and apportionment methodology;
  • failure mode effects and analysis; the planning, operation and analysis of reliability testing and field failures, including mathematical modeling;
  • understanding human factors in reliability; and the ability to develop and administer reliability information systems for failure analysis, design and performance improvement and reliability program management over the entire product life cycle.

    Duties and responsibilities within the role will include but not be limited to :

  • Research, develop and manage the implementation of effective failure analysis tools, practices and technologies to support asset integrity management.
  • Provide specialist failure analysis to all internal Logistics assets in order to understand technical aspects of failure and implement preventative measures.
  • Develop engineering solutions to repetitive failures and other problems that adversely affect plant operations using processes such as MoC to ensure change is managed in line with THSMS principles.

  • Provide a central point of specialist consultative expertise in asset integrity, failure analysis and coaching relevant personnel where necessary.
  • Create synergies with other works area personnel in order to support asset integrity processes across a range of disciplines guiding them with expert advice and support.
  • To be able to communicate professionally, both orally and in written format, to senior management such as business cases and data.
  • To Champion Continuous Improvement (CI) initiatives by establishing links with other Tata facilities, external consultants and suppliers, engineering institutions and other industries.
  • Develops engineering solutions to (repetitive) failures and all other problems that adversely affect plant operations.
  • Driving change and improvements through the use of data and analytical tools to provide clear justification and improvement

  • To assist in the development and implementation of professional systems and processes in to monitor, analyse and review asset reliability and integrity.
  • What were looking for

    We are looking for applicants who will have Ideally pursuing Degree qualifications with potential membership of a Professional Institution (IMechE, IET).

    This position is seen as the key developer of predictive / reliability based maintenance activities for implementation across the business so we will require applicants to have specific knowledge of asset management and the associated tools and techniques required.
