The Position

We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Medical Project Manager / Associate Director of Medical Project Management to join the viral hepatitis therapy area medical team in the UK and Ireland affiliate.

The role will be responsible for leading the tactical development and delivery of the UK & Ireland medical activities related to Hepatitis C, and supporting activities related to the Hepatitis B / D therapeutic area.

NHS England has recently extended its partnership working with pharma until at least March 2024, enabling us to continue to work very closely with the NHS and third sector in supporting the diagnosis and treatment of patients with hepatitis C.

Essential Duties and Job Functions

Responsibilities include :

  • Working in partnership with the Medical Director to coordinate and ensure consistency and efficiency in all relevant departmental operations and processes
  • Being an expert in the therapy area and fully conversant with the data relating to Gilead medicines and competitors’ products
  • Local strategic planning (UKI Medical Affairs Plan of Action POA for each year)
  • Management of medical HCV budget in line with the medical POA
  • Local conference management including abstract submission and CME activity
  • Therapy area expert engagement with internal teams : Medical, Commercial, Market Access, Government affairs, Public Affairs
  • Support with design of commercial materials
  • Material review / approval in PromoMats
  • Adaption, approval and oversight of medical materials for inclusion in the viral hepatitis sections of the new Gilead UKI HCP Portal website
  • Managing Medical Affairs programmes, including but not limited to : Delivery of Medical projects in support of HCV patient screening and linkage to care requirements of the NHS England HCV elimination tenderUK grants and Investigator Sponsored Research proposalsNational, regional and local non-promotional meetings / medical education programmes and digital projectsPost-Conference debrief materials for both internal and external useLocalisation / creation of non-promotional materials for both internal and external use e.
  • g. scientific data presentation for medical scientists, patient support materialsHCV Advisory Boards where requiredEarly access programmes / compassionate use, where such existManagement of activities by external agencies and suppliers

    Knowledge, Experience and Skills :

  • Must meet at least one of the following criteria : UK registered HealthCare Professional with a valid Medical or Pharmacist DegreeMinimum of 3 years’ experience within Medical Affairs role at a commercial pharmaceutical company
  • Clinical and / or pharmaceutical experience in Hepatology / Gastroenterology or Virology is desirable
  • Excellent written, verbal, interpersonal relationship-building and negotiation communication skills are required, along with the ability to provide clear and concise complex analysis of quantitative and qualitative concepts
  • Must be able to work with a high degree of autonomy and independence
  • Must be able to analyse complex data and put together effective concise reports while meeting all deadlines
  • Must be team oriented and work in several teams that may overlap, such as global medical team, cross-functional brand team, regional account teams
  • A proven ability to utilise complex scientific resources for presentations in a variety of different settings is required
