We’re looking to hire someone skilled in working on compliance matters for financial services in a technology environment to join our Compliance team in EMEA.

As a regulated business, our Compliance team plays a critical role in ensuring the compliance and health of Stripe within the broader financial ecosystem.
In this role you will help to ensure that Stripe continues to promote a culture of compliance and sound risk management by assisting with the implementation of our compliance program as well as our enterprise risk management program.
You will be deeply embedded in our programs for regulatory compliance (for all areas outside of financial crime), ensuring that Stripe’s products, business and operations meet the applicable legal and regulatory requirements, and Stripe’s obligations to its European regulators.
You will also contribute to Stripe’s enterprise risk management program for our regulated entities in Europe, to enable Stripe to manage enterprise risk effectively in line with European regulatory requirements.
This will entail performing an important role in the identification, assessment, management, and reporting of such risk across Stripe’s EMEA business.
In carrying out this regulatory compliance role, you will work collaboratively with many internal teams across the business, including Legal.
In this role you will :
Play an integral role on our Compliance team.
Help to scale our regulatory compliance programs for our regulated entities, including : managing all elements of the core regulatory compliance program for Stripe’s regulated businesses (for all areas outside financial crime);
reporting to our regulators (project managing the cross-functional inputs required, implementing quality control, compiling and filing reports, and managing our reporting calendars);
maintaining and updating the Stripe EMEA obligations inventory;evaluating, monitoring, and testing our compliance controls, policies, procedures, and processes;
drafting compliance-related policies, procedures, and processes;carrying out a program of monitoring and testing of compliance of Stripe products, business and operations against obligations;
reporting compliance matters and metrics to Stripe’s EMEA governance structure and regulated boards; handling escalated regulatory complaints;
maintaining compliance records; assisting with cross-functional compliance issue management and remediation projects; and creating compliance training materials and carrying out training for Stripe business and functional teams.
Help to scale our enterprise risk management frameworks for our regulated entities, including : assisting in the operation of our enterprise risk management frameworks for each regulated entity,
working on risk assessments and risk registers, and the operation of key policies for the identification and management of all material enterprise risk areas;
liaising with key business and functional teams regarding their management of risks in their respective area; anddrafting necessary reporting on enterprise risk matters to Stripe’s European regulators and internal governance forums.
Effectively communicate compliance and risk related topics internally within your team and with your cross-functional stakeholders.
To be considered for this role, you must have :
A good understanding of the regulatory compliance and risk issues that a company like Stripe faces.
5+ years of experience in compliance and / or risk functions in the financial services industry, preferably in fintech / payments.
Strong critical thinking, analytical, and data-driven skills.
Excellent cross-functional collaboration skills.
An aptitude for working in a regulated environment and for building compliance by design.
An ability to find solutions to complex and hard problems and ability to turn incomplete, conflicting, or ambiguous inputs into solid action plans.
The horsepower to work in an ambiguous, fast-paced environment and to balance multiple priorities and workstreams.
Strong written and verbal communication skills including the ability to communicate effectively with different stakeholders across the business.
