Our Sales Engineering organization is seeking a Performance Specialist that can provide leadership in working with both technical and business executives in the design, architecture and performance of the Snowflake Cloud Data Platform as a strategic asset as a part of their enterprise data architecture.

In this role you will work directly with the sales teams, product management, and channel partners to leverage best practices to tune and optimize architectures highlighting Snowflake’s Cloud Data Platform specifically within Data Engineering and Data Warehouse workloads throughout an organization.

As a Performance Specialist, you must share our passion for helping our customers drive faster time to insight through Snowflake’s Cloud Data Platform, thrive in a dynamic environment, and have the flexibility and willingness to jump in and get things done.

You are equally comfortable in both a business and technical context, interacting with executives and talking shop with technical audiences.

Reporting to the Field CTO Director, you will be afforded the opportunity to work in a highly visible role collaborating with internal and external leadership.

IN THIS ROLE YOU WILL GET TO :

  • Apply your multi-cloud data architecture expertise while presenting Snowflake technology and vision to executives and technical contributors at prospects and customers
  • Work directly with our product management, partners, and sales teams in order to drive innovation in our Cloud Data Platform
  • Partner with sales team and channel partners to understand the architecture needs in a pre and post sales capacity, provide compelling value-based enterprise architectures , support enterprise Proof of Concepts, and ultimately support data consumption and cost optimization to meet our customer’s needs
  • Be a technical expert on Snowflake performance through the tuning of non-trivial SQL queries, compute cluster sizing and configuration, and efficient design patterns that maximize query performance and / or minimize engineering latency
  • Provide technical enablement to customers on various performance tuning and optimization aspects of the Snowflake Data Platform.
  • Work with Sales Engineering and customers to demonstrate and communicate implementation best practices on Snowflake technology
  • Maintain deep understanding of competitive and complementary technologies to adjust and tune Snowflake parameters and logically explain the impact of these performance variables
  • Provide guidance and suggestions on how to resolve customer-specific technical challenges
  • REQUIRED :

  • 2+ years of performance and optimization tuning on Snowflake
  • 7+ years of Enterprise Architecture experience within the Enterprise Data space.
  • Deep technical expertise with all aspects of Data Engineering disciplines
  • Mastery of SQL statements (ideally including Snowflake's powerful SQL extensions)
  • Extensive knowledge of and experience with large-scale database technology (e.g. Netezza, Exadata, Teradata, Greenplum, etc.)
  • ON DAY ONE, WE WILL EXPECT YOU TO HAVE :

  • Scripting experience with Python, Javascript, Ruby, or equivalent.
  • SnowPro Architect Certification
  • Strong presentation skills to both technical and executive audiences
  • Broad range of experience within large-scale database and / or data warehouse technology, ETL, analytics and cloud technologies
  • Experience with common BI and data exploration tools (e.g. Tableau, Microstrategy, Business Objects)
  • Bachelor’s Degree required, Masters Degree in computer science, engineering, mathematics or related fields, or equivalent experience preferred
  • A solid understanding of the fundamentals of Snowflake's micro-partitions that form the basis for all data storage in Snowflake tables, including the metadata that is used to optimize query plans
  • Hands-on experience navigating the SQL profiler in Snowflake to assess execution plans and statistics, to identify potential performance issues, and then provide resolutions to these issues
