What is the opportunity?

  • The role is part of European Operations that supports pre and post trade deal processing for the RBC Capital Markets securities trading business Central Funding Group (CFG) and its clients.
  • The role ensures that trades are captured, matched for settlement, funded and reconciled as well as covering post trade processes such as margin calls.

    The operations role is a first line of defence to the business, ensures accurate books and records are maintained whilst providing a seamless client experience.

  • To work closely with all settlement teams and act as a central contact for the CFG desk
  • What will you do?

  • To ensure all daily tasks / controls are completed in line with the departmental PRIMA maps and procedures.
  • To assist the Department Head and Manager on projects, process improvements or new business initiatives as requested.
  • Work closely with the front office to ensure support groups meet the existing and future requirements of the business.
  • Upon the introduction of new products and systems, assist the Department Manager to perform the appropriate analysis of the support as required by business.
  • Identify operational processing and reporting issues and opportunities.

  • Determine staff and systems requirements.
  • Recommend and implement changes to staff responsibilities / mandates and control processes for the environment.

  • Re-engineer processes with the objectives of making optimum use of human resources, systems and technology, decreasing error ratios and turnaround time, minimizing manual intervention, and to provide the trading area with a smooth and efficient delivery of services.
  • Continue to develop product knowledge, to ensure that processes are in place to minimise operational, settlement and market risks.
  • To ensure all trades from GLOSS are sent to the relevant custodian, matched and settled within normal market conventions.
  • To report and escalate any un-matched or failed trades to the desk and senior management in a timely manner.
  • With priority placed on possible buy-ins which need to be additionally advised by phone.

  • To ensure the appropriate position is in place at appropriate Depository / Custodian or ICSD as required.
  • To understand the effects and consequences of down-stream reporting to non-operational areas within RBC such as Corporate Treasury, GRM and Reg Reporting.
  • What do you need to succeed?


  • Candidate should be educated to at least A level standard and have proven management experience as well as extensive financing products operations.
  • Experienced people manager
  • Provide ability to lead under pressure and deliver
  • Demonstrated leadership ability
  • Understand Equities, Fixed Income, Triparty and basic trading strategies.
  • Good PC skills.
  • Ideally knowledge of Euroclear, CREST, DTC, Tri-party agents, APEX, GLOSS and Bloomberg.

  • Previous proven experience of developing STP solutions
  • A good understanding of cash & position reconciliations.
  • Knowledge of Corporate Actions and the potential impacts if not handled correctly.
