This role requires the provision of commercially focused legal advice on a variety of legal areas arising across the European / MEA region, primarily in general commercial law, including drafting and negotiating a wide range of business-to-business commercial agreements facilitating the provision of travel, technology, and related services.
This person must be a results-oriented lawyer with an awareness of commercial objectives. The role of Legal Counsel will report directly to a Senior Legal Counsel within the Europe / MEA team.
Main Accountabilities :
Provide legal advice and support to management and staff on a wide range of company and commercial legal issues.
Provide legal advice and support to the Europe / MEA agency team on contractual / commercial matters.
Provide legal advice and support to management and staff on the European Operator Agreements and relationships.
Provide legal advice and support to the Europe Air Partners team on contractual / commercial matters.
Provide support on ad hoc commercial, corporate and regulatory projects / matters.
Work with the Privacy team to ensure the provision of legal advice and support to management and staff on European data protection issues.
Analyze, draft, and negotiate customer, supplier, technology and confidentiality contracts.
Prioritize workload and adhere to timeframes for completing tasks.
Provide clear, accurate guidance to clients on contracts, legal risks and other legal authorities.
Ensure contract review, approval, and execution adheres to corporate policies.
Support company objectives, vision and values.
Knowledge, Skills, Experience, Training, Education :
Trained in top or mid-tier commercial law firm in a common law jurisdiction. 2+ years of relevant post-qualification experience as legal counsel supporting commercial or corporate transactions.
In-house experience (on secondment or otherwise) preferable. Excellent oral, interpersonal and written communication skills.
Good understanding of multi-jurisdictional issues. Good experience in negotiating contracts and drafting complex, and at times high value, contracts.
Able to work on a wide range of projects with frequent interruptions but progress projects in a timely manner. Excellent organisational skills, detail-oriented, flexible, and innovative.
Knows the in-house legal role and works well with minimal supervision. Experience handling IT / IP matters and technology transactions is helpful.
Strong sense of business and legal ethics. Experience in working with and handling external counsel, including negotiating fee arrangements.
