Role and Responsibilities

Primary Responsibilities :

  • To instruct on flight training courses both at COAA Oxford (and occasionally other COAA locations) - aircraft and FNPT -
  • to minimum standards - as defined by the CFI - SPA

  • Meet instructional standards at each OPC - as defined by the CFI - SPA
  • To deliver mass briefings and relevant ground training to groups of student pilots as required
  • To deliver tests to students e.g. RT / MEP / Ground, PTs, 170a, etc if qualified to do so.
  • To maintain a high standard of student reports, assessments and records To provide mentorship, support and line training’ to inexperienced flight instructors on all aspects of flight training
  • To achieve a training productivity target .
  • To deliver flight training courses flexibly to a planned schedule. This will include working at weekends.
  • To support the development of new and existing COAA flight training materials
  • To support COAA management to prepare for CAA Inspections
  • To provide pastoral care and counselling of student pilots either as individuals or a course
  • To undertake responsibilities as Subject Specialist’ and Mentorship’ responsibilities - as required by the CFI SPA
  • To undertake responsibilities as internal / external examiners dependent on company requirements and personal qualifications.
  • To attend and support 2 COAA Seminars / training exhibitions per year - if requested
  • To provide general pilot services if required e.g. ferrying of aircraft as non-bonus activities
