Job description / Person specification

Role Purpose

As part of the Digital Transformation Leadership team, own the delivery of the three workstreams and one sub-programme within the Digital and Data Transformation Programme.

This is equivalent to a £1bn business change programme which requires experienced and strategic delivery leadership. Focus on delivery against key milestones across a mixture of agile (using SAFe) and waterfall (MSP) based projects and programmes.

Responsible for reporting, risk / issue management, planning, performance, supply chain management, finances and resourcing.

Includes service delivery (L3) and continuous improvement for DevOps / CI / CD related workstreams.

Key Accountabilities

  • Own the delivery of the three workstreams and one sub-programme within the Digital and Data Transformation Programme :
  • WS1 : Productivity. Accountable for implementation and continuous improvement of a new Microsoft 365 Platform using Agile / SAFe / DevOps principles, and migration from / decommissioning of legacy solutions.
  • Accountable for new Level 3 Support Services and Continuous Improvement. Jointly accountable for adoption of new ways of working with the Business Change Lead, Function Leads and Business Units.

  • WS2 : Nebula / DevOps. Accountable for implementation and continuous improvement of a new AWS based Software Development Platform using Agile / SAFe / DevOps / CI / CD principles, and migration from / decommissioning of legacy solutions.
  • Accountable for new Level 3 Support Services and Continuous Improvement. Jointly accountable for adoption of new ways of working with the Business Change Lead, Function Leads and Business Units.

  • WS3 : Digital Test & Evaluation. Accountable for implementation and continuous improvement of a new Digital Test & Evaluation Platform using Agile / SAFe / DevOps / CI / CD principles, and migration from / decommissioning of legacy solutions.
  • Accountable for new Level 3 Support Services and Continuous Improvement. Jointly accountable for adoption of new ways of working with the Business Change Lead, Function Leads and Business Units.

  • WS4 : Business Systems Programme. Accountable for implementation of a new integrated Business Systems Platform (based on SAP S / 4HANA), and migration from / decommissioning of legacy solutions.
  • Accountable for implementing and handing over to the new / extended service model across Business Services / IT and jointly accountable for adoption of new ways of working with the Business Change Lead, Function Leads and Business Units.

  • Accountable for shaping the strategic delivery method in line with QinetiQ best practice
  • Responsible for programme level reporting, risk and issue management
  • Accountable for planning and scheduling of activities and resouces at programme level
  • Accountable for programme delivery performance (metrics to be agreed)
  • Responsible for supply chain management
  • Accountable for financial management (estimating and forecast, plus inclusion of actuals to update cost to complete / earned value in collaboration with finance)
  • Accountable for resourcing (definition, recruitment (in collaboration with HR), onboarding and overall performance of delivery team)
  • Includes service delivery (L3) and continuous improvement for DevOps / CI / CD related workstreams (WS1-3)
  • Key Capabilities / Knowledge

  • Positive and progressive mindset with the ability to drive strategic direction of delivery methods required to deliver successful adoption of changed process, behaviours, tools, platforms and data exploitation using current best practice in agile business transformation
  • Programme management : Knowledge of MSP, SAFe / Agile / DevOps / CI / CD methods for large and complex technology enabled transformation programmes and service delivery;
  • Customer oriented : think like a business owner; deliver a digital change programme with our customers in mind focusing on Apple-like’ user experience that is also secure;
  • Communications skills : excellent communications skills; ensuring two-way dialog and empathy to achieve group digital transformation objectives;
  • Stakeholder management : being able to identify and successfully engage key stakeholders as well as the target audience in group digital transformation activities.
  • Experience & Qualifications

  • Minimum 10 years of experience working at a similar level in a mixture of Commercial, Start-up and Regulated environments
  • Proven track in successful delivery of technology and data enabled transformation programmes in global enterprises;
  • Proven track in building and maintaining strong relationships with stakeholders;
  • Degree educated in relevant subject;
  • Programme / Project Management experience and qualifications
  • Relevant experience and qualifications with Enterprise Technologies including public and private cloud, ERP (SAP), AWS, Microsoft 365
  • Ideally has exposure to development of platforms to enable Digital Twins and Digital Threads for whole lifecycle asset (information) management
