Are you an experienced Quality Engineering professional with a strong leadership background gained within an R&D or design engineering environment?

Do you want to be involved in driving future clean energy research?

Here at the UK Atomic Energy Authority, we are researching Fusion Energy (the process that powers the sun), this research involves challenging and original engineering and scientific projects and we need to develop, implement and drive continuous improvement within our quality processes.

You'll act as the lead for Continuous Improvement programmes and take ownership of all Technical Management processes to ensure compliance to ISO9001.

Additionally, you'll manage small team of validation engineers working directly with projects to affect change.

You'll ensure that the Integrated Delivery Process (IDP - the UKAEA new product introduction process) is fully rolled out and embedded in the organisation.

Working across the organisation, interfacing with key stakeholders, you'll take the strategic lead to deliver quality and engineering change management processes to drive continuous improvement.

In your role you'll :

Ensure all procedures and documents are accessible - simply and adequately describing the UKAEA technical management process.

Ensure these are continually improved based on user feedback

Ensure all technical management processes and behaviours comply with ISO, legislative and internal quality requirements and continue to align with emerging requirements and external best-practice

Coach teams and individuals to ensure a 'right first time' approach. Obtain regular structured user feedback and ensure there is a traceability of how this feedback has been successfully actioned.

Conduct regular audits of the integrated delivery process and ensure all corrective actions and opportunities for improvement are followed up.

Review all NCR and deviation data for IDP, including ensuring robust root cause analysis and implementation of preventative actions

Use UKAEA non-conformance and quality data to identify and prioritise improvement programmes. Develop proposal and secure funding for these activities

Ensure supplier / partners are aware of and comply to UKAEA processes as necessary

Work with Chief Engineer and Assurance to ensure all quality documentation produced right first time to meet their requirements

You'll need :

A Six Sigma Green or Black belt with a significant track record post qualification of implementing large scale business improvement activities.

A demonstrable track record of developing and implementing new quality processes into an organisation and ensuring compliance and engagement

A diploma or equivalent in engineering discipline.

Knowledge of ISO 9001 : 2008.

A significant track record of working within engineering teams and projects and of developing and implementing new processes and procedures.

NOTE : This is a long-term competitive contract offered on Umbrella or PAYE basis only.
