The Liability Driven Investment (LDI) business is a distinct part of Global Fixed Income which leverages the breadth and depth of the entire fixed income platform when delivering solutions for our clients.

BlackRock has been managing LDI mandates for over 20 years in the EMEA region. Since taking-on our first mandates in 1995, the business has grown to 266 LDI clients with $343bn1 AUM.

Who we are

The Client Portfolio Management team is responsible for the design, development and support of LDI solutions to institutional investors.

The team is also the primary contact point for clients and consultants on all matters related to the LDI mandate.

The team works closely with two partner teams within the LDI department :

  • Core Portfolio Management responsible for trade construction, implementation and on-going management of LDI portfolios.
  • Alpha Portfolio Management - this team is responsible for the performance of all active mandates managed by the team as well as driving the investment research process.
  • What you will be doing

    The Client Portfolio Manager plays a lead role in designing and implementing LDI strategies for our UK clients. Specific responsibilities include :

  • Engagement with existing and prospective clients to identify the investment challenges they face, and to understand their goals and objectives;
  • Designing solutions using BlackRock’s analytical toolset and market views;
  • Preparing legal documentation and facilitating the agreed investment strategy;
  • Providing ongoing technical support to the client with respect to the mandate (i.e. training, delivering mandate and market updates, resolving client requests);
  • Preparing client materials and articulating to clients;
  • Contributing to idea generation and thought leadership tailored for LDI clients and prospects;
  • Working in partnership with internal stakeholders across the organisation to achieve the above.

    What you should have

  • 5-10 years of LDI or relevant experience (ideally asset management or consulting)
  • Excellent communication skills in writing and verbally; capable of explaining complex concepts in simple terms
  • Experience working with institutional pension fund or insurance clients
  • Strong technical, product and market knowledge across the fixed income universe
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
  • High level of self-motivation, ownership and initiative
  • Excellent organisational and project management skills
  • Diligence and a process and control mindset
