What I need to do
You will report into the Lead Agile Coach and work closely with team members as well as in collaboration with Sainsburys Tech colleagues.
Your main aim will be to support the smooth day to day running and maturing of the teams, to ensure that things get done, issues and impediments are unblocked, and the team can run efficiently.
How I will succeed
Assessing the Scrum Maturity of the team and organisation and coaching the team to higher levels of maturity, at a pace that is sustainable and comfortable for the team and organisation
Removing impediments or guiding the team to remove impediments.
Building a trusting and safe environment where problems can be raised without blame or being judged, with an emphasis of healing and problem solving.
Facilitating getting the work done without coercion, assigning, or dictating the work.
Facilitating discussion, decision making and conflict resolution.
What I need to know
This role would suit a pro-active, self-motivated, confident person with good empathy and communication skills as well as someone who is not afraid of conflict.
Extensive experience within Agile. You enjoy working with others and getting the best out of them.
You'll need to be diplomatic while in negotiations, conflict & change.
Maintaining a high standard of attention to detail with clarity of communication. Ours is a fast moving environment so the ability to stay calm under pressure while giving clear direction is essential.
First level Scrum Master certification (CSM, PSM I)
Experience playing the Scrum Master role within an agile environment applying Scrum principles, practices, and theory.
Good skills and knowledge of servant leadership, facilitation, situational awareness, conflict resolution, continual improvement, empowerment, and increasing transparency
Knowledge of numerous well documented patterns and techniques for filling in the intentional gaps left in the Scrum approach (example : numerous Burndown techniques, numerous Retrospective formats, handling bugs, etc)
What I need to show
Doing everything possible to ensure delighting customers
Guiding the team and organisation on how to use Agile / Scrum practices and values to delight customers
Assisting with internal and external communication, improving transparency, and radiating information
Supporting and educating the Product Owner, especially with respect to refining and maintaining the product backlog.
Providing support to the team using a servant leadership style whenever possible, and leading by example
Skills and techniques to coach teams in understanding and applying Scrum
