evolving challenge of policing London. Within today's Met, the demand for firearms training is greater than ever. To ensure our officers get the skills they need, we're recruiting for qualified Firearms Instructors.

Working at Parliamentary & Diplomatic Protection command your experience will be invaluable in supporting our officers through ongoing training and as part of your Instructors CPD will include training officers for the difficult and essential job of Authorised Firearms Officer.

You’ll be deployed to various ranges, working as either a Range Conducting Officer (RCO) or Range Safety Supervisor (RSS).

You’ll also support tactical firearms training at various locations, as either an Exercise Conducting Officer (ECO) or Exercise Safety Supervisor (ESS).

The level of training we’ll expect you to deliver will depend on your experience and qualifications.

As a Firearms Instructor, there are more opportunities for you to get involved with making London the safest global city in a time of unprecedented change within the UK's largest Police Service.

Equipping officers with the right skills is immensely rewarding; your work could make a big difference, and even save lives.

To join us, you must have worked as a Police National Firearms Instructor before. You’ll have taught for at least 60 hours per year and completed your Instructors’ CPD.

Naturally, you’ll have completed a Police Firearms Instructors Course (NFIC) at a College of Policing accredited training facility, and may have gained a recognised introduction to teaching qualification (AET, PTLLS, Cert Ed, NVQ or similar).
