Reporting to : Head of Finance Business Systems Support

The Role of Finance Business Systems Specialist

Reporting to the Head of Finance Business Systems Support, the Finance Business Systems Specialist role (Oracle, GL & EBPCS) will be central to a new Centre of Excellence team supporting the implementation and operation of the Oracle platform and associated infrastructure.

This role is within a team of seven, who will be responsible for the Finance aspects of the new platform. The team will also work closely with their IT counterparts in ensuring the efficient and effective running of the platform, upgrades and changes are prioritised and delivered and new developments are implemented.

As systems administrator they will maintain the Finance infrastructure, open / close ledgers, design and publish new reports, add cost centres among.

A key element of the role is end user support and training.

The Hiscox finance function has undergone a significant, multi-year change programme which is now within the embedding phase.

What you will be doing

  • Partnering with Internal Project Team and External Consultants as we implement Oracle Cloud Applications across Hiscox’s Global Finance Operations.
  • Manage Oracle tools in support of Finance function; including form updates, UAT, process development and documentation, standard report development, chart of account maintenance, etc.
  • Lead the EPBCS based Forecast, Budget, and Long Range Plan Process from a systems perspective, including developing and updating standard forms, managing versions, and providing EPBCS advice and support to global finance team.
  • Administer EPBCS Data by liaising with the Group Information Technology team to insure completeness and accuracy of integrations and ongoing data transfers.
  • Establish best practices and support user community training on Oracle Report development and Smartview
  • Perform data cleansing and data auditing as necessary to ensure data quality
  • SME on all Oracle Finance systems
  • Plan, design, develop, implement, maintain, support, and enhance Oracle ERP applications.
  • Define customer requirements and interface business needs with system design
  • Deliver end user training and provide extensive hands-on user support
  • Remain current with change and configuration management methodologies, Oracle methodology, and project management techniques.
  • Gathering reporting requirements from users and detailing both process and technical requirements to translate end-user requirements into finished and working Oracle Applications Design
  • Create, maintain, and manage documentation for all Oracle Implementation and Support Initiatives

  • FCCS & PBCS certified professionalExperience as a Finance Systems Administrator / Finance Systems ExpertExperience as a user of Oracle & Hyperion Products (HFM)Technical expertise in Oracle modules including General Ledger, Sub-Ledgers, Consolidation, Planning, Accounts Payable, Fixed AssetsExperience of Oracle Cloud SolutionsExperience of requirements gathering, definition and solution developmentExperience of accessing data in a relational database management systemExtensive experience with Systems Design , Implementation and SupportExperience with a variety of implementations in a number of different environmentsExperience of stakeholder managementTroubleshooting skills and ability to coordinate with partner IT and Finance teamsMust be able to work in a fast paced environment with minimal supervision whilst meeting deadlines.
  • Self-starter able to liaise with stakeholders to establish requirements.Ability to self-learn and acquire skills and techniques as required.

    Flexibility to see projects to completion in a timely, accurate and efficient manner.Strong drive to document work, share knowledge and collaborate in a team.

    Advanced / Expert User of ExcelBachelor of Science Finance, Accounting or relevant Business degree
