Register General / Mental Health / Learning Disability Nurse

We are looking for a professional, ambitious & confident Registered Mental Health Nurse or Registered Learning Disability Nurse.

RMNs / RNLDs / RGN's with interests in leadership, research & risk assessment are encouraged to apply.

At Cygnet, Oaklands supports individuals with learning disabilities and complex needs. The team of nurses and support staff also support individuals who have additional mental or physical health needs, and behaviours that may challenge.

The service is a large detached property with extensive living areas. This means that residents can choose if they want to be in the gender-specific lounges or mixed company.

Everyone at Oaklands has their own bedroom, which they are supported to decorate and personalise. There is a conservatory with access to a spacious and private garden, with seating and picnic areas.

We also have a greenhouse and raised flower beds for individuals to practice their gardening skills. Additionally, there is a lovely sensory garden, which is accessible for all.

The team at this House are focused on ensuring that residents are part of their local community and can access education, employment and other opportunities to meet their needs.

Individuals are supported at local paid and voluntary work placements, as well as a living and vocational skills courses at the local college.

Your Day-to-Day

  • Produce outstanding written reports based on your nursing assessments and observations
  • Work closely with the management team to develop the service, audit, and improve quality
  • Attend all training and engage in CPD to further knowledge and promote nursing
  • Under NMC guidelines, ensure that individual care plans are complete & maintained collectively with residents, relatives and other healthcare professionals
  • Administer prescribed medicines with Healthcare procedure and Healthcare Commission guidelines

  • An experienced RMN / RNLD / RGN with a current Pin Number, you'll have

    Essential :

  • Open, compassionate, honest & resilient
  • Newly Qualified or Experienced RMN / RNLD with a current Pin Number
  • Capable to maintain documentation and undertake audits
  • Well informed of the Mental Health Act 1983 & have an understanding of the latest nursing practices
  • Able to deputise in a clinical lead role
  • Focused on patient recovery to monitor, manage & reduce risk
  • Helping to empower & support service user independence.
  • Desirable :

  • Experience working in a residential environment
  • The ability to deputise in a clinical lead role
  • An interest in leadership, research and assessment
