Role description :

KPMG’s Audit Centre of Excellence (ACE) is seeking a high-performing, quality-focused individual to support the department in its project management activities.

The core element of the role relates to supporting the team with compliance with the International Standard on Quality Management (UK) 1 (ISQM 1).

As our processes become embedded, there will be additional scope to support the ACE team with ad hoc projects as they arise.

The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring the firm’s compliance with ISQM 1, supporting the members of the department in achieving compliance.

The role provides an opportunity to gain experience in the ongoing implementation of a new, critical global standard which affects all audit firms.

ISQM 1 requires audit and accounting firms to undertake a risk-based assessment of their system of quality management (SoQM) and focus their attention on risks that may have an impact on engagement quality and the policies, procedures and controls that need to be in place to address them.

The role relates to the project management of the Intellectual Resources, Technological Resources, Consultations, and Knowledge and Communications policies, processes, and controls.

Responsibilities :

  • Supporting ACE with the maintenance of the team’s records to ensure compliance, and support the evaluation, monitoring and remediation of the ACE team’s system of quality management with respect to intellectual resources, consultations, technological resources and knowledge and communications.
  • Supporting the ISQM 1 manager to work with senior stakeholders within the department and central ISQM 1 team to update firm processes and controls, and the documentation thereof, as required.
  • Providing training and support to ACE team members related to the ISQM 1 process.
  • Preparing and presenting status reporting to senior team stakeholders.
  • Involvement in the design and development of automated workflows and tools to manage ISQM 1 processes.
  • Performing periodic reconciliations of the team’s listings of intellectual resources.
  • Monitoring the release of intellectual resources and identification of non-compliance
  • Maintaining related documentation and evidence fit for regulatory inspection.
  • Supporting the team with ad hoc project management support as required outside of the core ISQM 1 activities.
  • Skills

  • Strong organisational and project management skills
  • High degree of proficiency with Excel and other office applications
  • Good interpersonal skills, communication skills and ability to collaborate with stakeholders across the firm.
  • Strong attention to detail is required
  • Able to work independently and proactively with appropriate coaching and consultation
  • Ability to respond to emerging issues, reprioritising tasks where necessary
  • Ability to learn processes and skills quickly
