The Team

Knight Frank Debt Advisory advises and arranges debt for developers and investors across all sub-sectors of real estate in the UK and Europe.

With over two hundred lenders in the market, the debt team provides borrowers with access to a range of financing solutions to suit their needs, running the financing process from term sheet stage to financial close.

The Role

The Knight Frank Debt Advisory team are looking to hire a highly proficient and self-motivated Analyst. The ideal candidate will be a strong communicator with the ability to think independently and use their own initiative.

You will also have a genuine hands on approach and possess the necessary skills, manner and experience to provide an effective support service to the department / office.

You will also know how to work well with others in a matrixed environment and be able to use your influencing skills to engage teams of people from all areas of the business.

Practical and theoretical understanding of underwriting, credit risk and financial modelling techniques are vital for this role.

Role Priorities :

Deal-related responsibilities - For each transaction the debt team approaches a wide range of lenders to obtain indicative terms.

The Analyst would be responsible for :

  • Co-ordinating the lender approach for each transaction, building relationships with a large number of debt providers across the UK and Europe
  • Managing lender replies and responding to credit-related queries. Deal analysis and understanding at the outset of a transaction will be key to success
  • Coordinating and communicating indicative terms to borrowers
  • Where required (for larger or more complicated transactions) the analyst will be responsible for pulling together a deal information memorandum which outlines the salient points of a transaction, as well as the key risks and mitigants from a lender’s perspective
  • Building financial models using the client’s cash flow projections to assess debt serviceability and key lender metrics (interest cover, debt service cover, debt yield)
  • Supporting fee earners by managing the term sheet negotiation process Supporting fee earners on deal execution
  • Ongoing Responsibilities

  • Ownership of lender relationships there are over two hundred lenders in the UK and European Commercial Real Estate market, it is expected that the analyst will meet regularly with a range of lenders building strong relationships along with a solid understanding of the UK debt market
  • Attending all lender meetings and building up a working knowledge of lender appetite across all sectors and leverage points
  • Managing the lender database to ensure that it clearly presents which lenders are active across which jurisdictions, in which sectors and across which parts of the capital stack
  • Manage Terms Tracker the debt team obtains a number indicative debt terms each week, it is vital that we maintain a record of these terms as this helps us to track lender appetite and pricing across the UK and Europe
  • Analysing terms and providing the debt team with regular updates as to how pricing / leverage / appetite is changing
  • Attend key sector teams’ WIP meetings the debt team covers all sub-sectors of real estate therefore it is important for us to have a presence at key sector team’s meetings to provide them with market updates and to assess any potential debt introductions
