Role Focus

The primary focus of the Sales Performance Reporting Lead is to be responsible for providing all the key metrics and insight needed to review leading indicators of sales performance and what needs to be actioned in the future to ensure success within the Sales department.

These will be simple and easy to use, in a digestible format, with minimum effort from the user to understand what’s working well and what isn’t.

A key part of the role is to deploy self-serve dashboards that users adopt and utilise daily which are also efficient and effective in their use and design.

This role holder will develop great internal relationships with Sales, Sales leadership and Finance to ensure reports are created, delivered and maintained, and related applications are working effectively and continue to meet the needs of the business.

Deliver performance improvements by integrating client, sales, marketing, service and digital information. That gives individuals and management the ability to manage performance effectively, align resources and run interventions when needed.

Supporting the target setting process. Looking at what worked well, what to improve and ensuring targets are understood, set and communicated before the end of January.

Ensuring they meet business priorities and objectives, are fair in the allocation to individuals and that an effective process for target changes is in place.

Key Responsibilities

  • Be the subject matter expert on sales performance reporting, focusing on events before the deal is closed.
  • Using historic information and future forecasts to identify where we need to focus
  • Liaise with the relevant teams on the operation and development of reporting and the delivery and access of this reporting to users.
  • Ensure that all actions and tasks are delivered on schedule and to a high standard and any delays / issues are raised and items escalated.
  • All reporting, analytical and insight solutions must be effective, optimal and scalable.
  • Work closely with sales leadership, sales and operational people to understand issues, requirements and solutions to building out a suite of core reports to improve performance management.
  • Generate insightful recommendations from reporting to improve commercial performance
  • To own the reporting, ensure it meets stakeholder needs, to regularly review and improve as needed
  • Develop targets for the sales team and sales management
  • Represent Wood Mackenzie professionally and credibly.
  • Process

  • Operate with best practice to deliver globally consistent 'best in class' service, quality and accuracy in the work completed
  • Understand the end to end sales process and ensure reporting and analytics drives consistent improvements
  • Knowledge, Skills and Experience

  • Experience of working in reporting and analytics in a sales, marketing or service function
  • Should be confident, outgoing and professional with significant experience in a fast paced environment and acute business and commercial awareness
  • Comfortable communicating with senior management and front line employees
  • Ability to evaluate multiple competing inputs to offer solutions and / or prioritise resource allocation
  • Knowledge of data protection (e.g. GDPR) regulations and compliance
  • Desired knowledge of; oil and gas, coal, metals, chemicals or commodities or related businesses
  • Excellent cultural awareness, especially when liaising with stakeholders remotely and / or outside of home country
  • The role holder should have the ability to work autonomously
  • In depth knowledge of CRM systems (Salesforce preferred)
  • Excellent Excel modelling and PowerPoint presentation skills
  • Knowledge of statistical software desired (R preferred)
