WHAT’S YOUR NEW ROLE ABOUT?
Goal’s English language edition is growing and we need great minds that love football to join us. We’re looking for an Assistant Editor to create, assign and manage editorial that will thrive on direct, social, search and other referral platforms.
They will require a strong understanding of what content UK and US football fans want to consume. An ability to think on your feet, react rapidly to the news agenda and plan around the football calendar is essential.
WHAT WILL YOU DO IN YOUR NEW ROLE ? % of role
Sub-edit and publish content produced by colleagues and freelancers from Perform’s CMS 25%
Manage the International, UK and US homepages 25%
Assign content to full-time and freelance content producers 10%
Publish content on social media platforms 10%
Track real-time traffic and monitor traffic reports 10%
Ensure commercial and multimedia requests are completed 5%
Liaise with Goal editions across the globe to coordinate content creation and publication 5%
Provide feedback to full-time and freelance content producers 5%
Ensure best possible use of ePlayer video content 5%
DO YOU HAVE THESE ESSENTIALS?
A minimum of five years of journalistic experience, preferably online (4)
Ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines (4)
Excellent news sense and journalistic instinct (4)
High level of football knowledge, particularly across major European leagues (4)
Outstanding copywriting abilities and attention to detail (4)
Strong time-management and interpersonal skills (4)
Expert at posting engaging content across social media platforms, particularly Facebook and Twitter (4)
Brand savvy, audience focused, digital native passionate and knowledgeable about digital content (3)
Vast experience using content management systems (3)
DO YOU HAVE THESE DESIRABLES ?
Experience using content analysis tools, such as Google Analytics or Chartbeat
Experience using video editing software, such as Premiere Pro or Final Cut
Experience using Photoshop
Experience covering football in the digital media industry
