Description : Applications are invited from candidates for the above fixed term (one year) part time 22.5 hours (Wednesday-
Friday) post within the Histocompatibility and Immunogenetics (H&I) Laboratory. The H&I Laboratory is located in purpose built laboratory accommodation at Gartnavel General Hospital in Glasgow and is within the Diagnostics Directorate of NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde Health Board.
The H&I Laboratory provides an H&I service to support the following clinical programmes : Serving the West of Scotland : Adult renal transplantation Disease association Serving all of Scotland : Paediatric haematopoietic progenitor cell transplantation Adult haematopoietic progenitor cell transplantation Paediatric renal transplantation Adult cardiac transplantation.
You will rotate through all sections of the laboratory : antibody detection and identification, molecular typing, and donor-
recipient crossmatching. Participation in out of hours on call service is mandatory. There will be frequent occasions when you will take sole responsibility for work and you will train and supervise less experienced staff.
You will also be required to offer advice and guidance on the services available to users and to provide information about the analyses that are performed.
Qualifications essential for this post are an Honours degree in a biological subject approved by the Health Professions Council (HPC).
