Scope of the Role :
Reporting to the Global MD, the SVP of Engineering is responsible for leading the technology function, comprising software development, technical operation and infrastructure.
The role will deliver product and stable infrastructure in a fast paced, technology focused gambling environment. As a member of the senior leadership team the SVP of Engineering is involved in all areas of business strategy and is responsible for the ongoing alignment of technical delivery and operations.
Lead technical strategic development to achieve current and future goals
Lead and develop the members of the technology team
Develop a succession plan within the technology team, including the development of a talent pipeline
Represents technology at senior leadership level including setting and implementing business strategy
Implement technologies and processes that aid technical efficiency (e.g. performance, stability, resilience, redundancy and scalability) and service quality
Ensure new products are fit for purpose, delivered as per requirements, on time and to budget
Ensure system and development performance is monitored and enhanced
Instill technical standards and procedures and ensure these are followed
Instill a service excellence culture, reducing incidents and monitoring system performance closely with appropriate support and escalation processes established
Key Responsibilities and Duties :
Provide leadership to a globally spread technology team to ensure technical initiatives are successfully implemented to requirement, time and budget.
Active participation in the senior leadership team.
Work closely with C level colleagues to ensure the technology function is aligned to deliver clear business value.
Ensure system stability, resilience and scalability to meet both the short and long- term needs of the business.
Define and ensure adherence to technical standards, methodologies, policies, procedures, measures and enhancements so that technical and company goals are achieved.
Review, where appropriate, technical designs to ensure design choices are fit for purpose, future proofed and conform to development standards.
Ensure a robust release and acceptance testing process is in place and adhered to, in order to minimise product failure or issues.
Ensure appropriate information security measures are in place to maintain system and information integrity.
Develop and implement plans to ensure key technical systems can operate in a disaster recovery scenario.
Define and mitigate risk on all key initiatives to ensure sustainability and long-term success.
Provide leadership and management guidance and objectively assess the performance of all direct reports with use of the company performance management process.
Identify personal development plans / requirements as required.
Develop and monitor technical operational and capital budgets and forecasts.
Skills and Experience :
Strong leadership skills essential
Clear track record of success managing technology teams in an agile environment.
Organised and strong multi-tasking capability. Needs to be a self-starter.
Must be a collaborative team player
Ability to problem solve and create solutions to process failures
Excellent oral and written communication skills, with the ability to be the translation layer between the technology function and the senior management team, in both directions.
A background of software development and track record of complex software delivery.
A strong enough technical background to command the respect of the technology team, but with a clear customer focus and commercial awareness.
Experience working in B2B and B2C environments, including SaaS implementations.
Experience managing teams working in wide ranging technologies including C# and Java.
Experience in the betting and gaming industry a distinct advantage.
