Penguin Recruitment are pleased to be working with a highly respected consultancy on the hire of a Principal Planner looking for progression to join their Glasgow office.

Provide a broad range of planning advice to public and private sector clients to support their development and strategy ambitions.

Clients include : developers, housebuilders, local authorities, UK and Scottish Government agencies. Projects come in all shapes and sizes and fall in the residential, energy, retail, commercial, industrial and distribution sectors.

You will be involved in the company’s ongoing development, becoming part of the leadership team to build relationships with clients, ensuring the company continue to provide their clients with market leading advice and services.

You will have project development and management responsibility, and will work with other members of the team to develop their skills.

Key responsibilities :

  • Work winning capability
  • Reinforce our team in Scotland in response to a combination of existing workloads and emerging opportunities in the public and private sectors
  • Project support through management, analysis and delivery; and delegation of appropriate tasks to junior staff
  • Mentoring junior staff
  • Maintaining and building positive client relationships
  • About You / Key requirements :

  • Understanding and experience of development in the planning system in Scotland
  • Good client and network relationships / ability to secure work / bid writing capability
  • Planning or related degree(s) & membership of the RTPI or equivalent
  • Relevant experience in development management, strategic planning and other aspects of planning including public and stakeholder consultation
  • Excellent understanding of planning principles associated with development and infrastructure projects
  • Good communication and facilitation skills, including authoring reports and co-ordinating inputs.
  • You will have at least 10 years post graduate experience in a planning and development environment.
