Mission

Description of the Business Line or Department

Within Société Générale group, you will join the ROCS division of GBIS acting as the first line of defence for the CORI, GLFI and GTPS business units in the UK supervising all the topics related to operational risks (fraud, business continuity, information security, execution errors .

  • and by bringing improvement solutions related to operational risk management system (tools, processes, etc.).
  • CORI, the Coverage and Investment Banking division of SG CIB, offers a global coverage approach focused on strategic dialogue with clients.

    Building on long-term relationships based on trust, CORI promotes to clients the whole range of services offered by SG CIB and the Group, with a focus on investment banking and commercial banking activities.

    CORI with the support of product lines provides tailor-made solutions to corporates, financial institutions, the public sector and family offices.

    Building on a comprehensive coverage set-up and investment banking platform, the teams collaborate in a complementary manner to accompany their clients with the utmost expertise.

    GLFI, the Global Finance division of SG CIB, provide our issuer clients (corporates, financial institutions, public sector) with capital raising solutions, along with structured financing and commodities, forex and interest rate hedging.

    Developing tailor-made products and providing strategic advice (capital structure advisory, financing schemes and capital markets) based on our worldwide expertise and in-

    depth sectorial knowledge, we aim to meet their financing needs. We are a top player across euro debt capital markets and won many international accolades over the years as a worldwide leader in export, project and natural resources & energy finance.

    GTPS, Global Transaction & Payment Services is designed for individuals as well as domestic and international financial companies and institutions seeking support with transactions (bank, commercial and corporate transactions) and / or payments.

    Summary of the key purposes of the role

    Within the OSM team, your mission is to contribute to the control and reduction of operational risks on the BU / SU activities and provide a transversal Front to Accounting vision.

    To carry out this mission, you will work closely with the Businesses of CORI, GLFI and GTPS to :

  • Identify the operational risk areas in your scope
  • Assess the control system adequacy put in place to limit these risks
  • Propose action plans to reduce the level of these risks
  • Monitor the implementation of these action plans.
  • Contribute / take part in transversal risk management (ROCS, RISQ / OPE, CPLE, BU / SU...)
  • You support the operational teams and their managers in the administration of their operational risks while playing a role of critical review of the control system and its implementation.

    As a specialist in your functional area, you are also able to guide and / or intervene on topics related to your area of expertise and monitor the Front to Accounting operational risk process by relying on the experts in the field, when needed.

    Since operational risk management is split between BU / SU, LoD2 and your department, you will work closely with these teams.

    This position also requires a need for animation and coordination with EMEA regional teams as well as our dedicated risk team within the SG GSC and SG EBS entities.

    Summary of responsibilities

    Operational Incidents (profits, losses and near misses)

  • Help operational teams and managers to collect and report incidents in dedicated tools
  • Review and critical analysis of Post-Mortem and action plans
  • Follow up the implementation of proposed action plans.
  • Report operational incidents to management in your operating concern
  • Help transversal ROCS teams in analyzing losses in your controlling area
  • Write and present major incidents (incident reporting) to management
  • Risk indicators

  • Identify, with the Business, the relevant risk indicators on your perimeter,
  • Escalate, analyze and warn the various governances about risk indicators (ROCS / DIR, CACI, BU / SU , CAC..)
  • Help the second line of defense to produce risk metrics.
  • Risk and Control Self-Assessment (RCSA)

  • Identify the entities needing a RCSA in your operating concern,
  • Help BU / SU in the self-assessment process (draft and perform interviews, formalizing in the dedicated tool )
  • Consolidate RCSA in your controlling area
  • Scenario Analysis

  • Contribute to the scenario analysis exercise by involving the operational teams and managers in your scope
  • Co-ordination Role

  • To act as a coordinator with the other regional ROCS / OSM support members in the EMEA region
  • Managerial supervision

  • Help managers in your scope to adapt their control framework
  • Review of the control framework in place on your perimeter in cooperation with the second line defense teams
  • Monitor and review the execution of managerial supervision controls (review of anomalies, associated action plans, etc.)
  • Help the BU / SU for the quarterly executive summary on managerial supervision controls
  • Deploy the Normative Control Referential (NCR) in collaboration with the NCR Heads and BU / SU.
  • Process review

  • Carry out the operational processes reviews to assess their adequacy in terms of risks, controls framework (operational and managerial supervision), issue action plans to enhance the framework
  • Follow up the action plans’ implementation
  • Share the roadmap with the second line of defense team
  • Outsourced / externalized services monitoring

  • Contribute, as expert, to assess the operational risks linked to outsourced / externalized services
  • Help the BU / SU to analyze their risks on Outsourced / Externalized Services Providers
  • Operational risk awareness Sessions

  • Organize, prepare and lead jointly with the BU / SU operational risk awareness sessions
  • Hierarchy

  • You directly report to the Operational Risk Manager in ROCS / UK and functionality to the OSM of CORI, GLFI and GTPS
  • Level of Autonomy and Authority

    Working under the supervision of the reporting manager, autonomy to be defined and refined under that supervision.

    Profile :

  • Business school or university in Banking / Finance, Economics or Risks.
  • Banking or audit firm experience at least 4 years
  • Fluency in both written and spoken English
  • Advanced level skills in Microsoft Office Suite and strong interest in new technologies
  • French language desirable
  • Technical Skills :

  • Strong knowledge of products, trades, processes, IS and risks on your perimeter
  • Good knowledge of operational risk (regulations, processes)
  • Proficiency in audit-type working methods (ability to autonomously structure an approach, formalization of work, justification of conclusions, implementation of substantive tests when necessary)
  • Fluency in both written and spoken English
  • Advanced level skills in Microsoft Office Suite
