To provide resource direction and consistency to the Overhead Line Electrification design teams located across the EMIA region as well as limited technical supervision for staff reporting to the post.

The post reports to the Head of Electrification & Power Engineering (Transportation Europe). The post is located in Swindon, although the postholder will be expected to undertake site visits and other locations within the UK and overseas for short periods when required.
The post holder will work with the OLE Technical director who focus is primarily technical.
This post has prime responsibility for the following :
Management of all OLE staff in EMIA
Manage the creation and maintenance of OLE design standards, tools and processes
Ensure cascades of technical changes to the OLE teams
Agree Training and mentoring new and established staff
Facilitating the identification and development of design efficiencies
Facilitating the development of new capabilities for new markets
Facilitating the identification of IT systems to solve specific design problems
Raising technical profile of OLE within and outside the company.
Summary of Main Responsibilities :
Manage delivery of OLE / OCs and ensure consistency throughout the teams in EMIA
Carry out conceptual and detailed design on a wide variety of AC electrification projects
Check reports and similar documentation to client requirements
Set and manage project, technical, safety and quality targets / objectives
Manage single discipline and multi-disciplinary projects if required
Work flexibly and effectively both as an individual and as part of a team
Maintain cost effective standards for OLE designs
Contribute to the development of continuous improvement plans
Display awareness of the Company Business Plan
Develop and maintain client relationships as appropriate
Formulate / plan work programmes
Prepare bids and tender submissions
Manage time and resources effectively
Manage performance and team development
Manage the appraisal of staff competency
Develop and manage subordinate staff in line with the Unit Business Plan
Ensure quality standards and procedures are attained / improved
Manage subordinate staff as necessary.

AC traction distribution design experience

Must be prepared to undertake railway medical and PTS course if required
