BAM FM is recruiting a Finance Manager to join the Hemel Hempstead office.

Reporting to the Financial Controller, you will be required to work closely with all operational teams and departments within BAM FM, subcontractors and colleagues within BAM Construct, exercising excellent team working skills and building positive relationships.

You will be a key point of contact for senior managers and act as a deputy to the financial controller, working across the business to ensure the smooth running of the day to day operations as well as supporting the business to drive improvements through the delivery of discreet projects to improve overall contract profitability and increase organisational efficiencies.

About the role

Leading the team of finance business partners this is a role which will require the candidate to influence outcomes within operational teams, using their experience where there is a clear opportunity to add both operational and commercial value.

You will be required to liaise with a variety of stakeholders including the client, suppliers and internal teams, with the key objective of ensuring customer satisfaction through the delivery of exemplary facilities services and ensuring contractual obligations are met while maintaining controls on spend and budget control.

Principle Accountabilities :


  • Management and development of the Finance Business Partner team to successfully achieve our company, team and individual goals and objectives.
  • Pro-active provision of all financial information to operational teams ensuring that the information is clear and understandable.
  • Create and maintain effective individual and team working relationships across finance, commercial and operational teams, other internal teams, the client and their representatives.
  • Manage the allocation of resources to ensure the requirements of the operational teams are met.
  • Supervising, mentoring junior members of the team to improve their understanding of finance and performance
  • Operational and compliance

  • Support BAM Energy in relation to all finance operations.
  • Deliver first class financial information and support operational teams to maximise company performance and turnover
  • Establish, monitor and supplement resource levels to comply with organisational requirements.
  • Facilitate the development of robust risk management’ processes and procedures for all financial processes
  • Produce financial performance reports against contractual and strategic performance indicators.
  • Support the implementation of policies on health & safety (H&S), quality assurance (QA) and environment in conjunction with corporate support teams where required.
  • Producing monthly management accounts, managing reconciliation of budgets, forecasts and variance analysis
  • Providing meaningful commentary and analysis of financial data highlighting any variances.
  • Providing support to external auditors as and when required.
  • Development of additional reporting for Senior Management as required, along with other discreet projects.
  • Assisting in producing monthly management accounts for the business.
  • Production of the quarterly schedules for reporting to the BAM group.
  • Supporting the annual budget process for the business.
  • Managing the monthly forecast and annual budget process for the business.
  • Support the business partners in the production of Contract P&L’s when required.
  • Attending meeting to support operational teams with customer discussions regarding issues such as work in progress and debt management.
  • Financial data modelling capabilities to support informed business decisions.
  • Development of additional reporting for Senior Management as required, along with other identified projects.
  • Supervision and control of internal company policies relating to assets, expenses, business travel, benefits in kind and internally sourced services.
  • Ensure that financial procedures support the swift payment of supply chain partners, escalating concerns if performance issues are identified.
  • Identify and report risks or breaches immediately.
  • Who are we looking for?

  • Relevant finance qualification (CIMA / ACCA / AAT)
  • Qualification by experience of working in a finance function within a facilities management organisation
  • Knowledge of excel, power-point
  • Knowledge of SAP, Basware and related systems
