Are you a dedicated, reliable and hardworking individual who has a great eye for detail?
This is an important post within the Council that will see you working between schools and our Legal department, overseeing key aspects of work relating to irregular school attendance.
You will be ensuring that penalty notice requests and paperwork for court cases are of an acceptable quality, comply with the law and are submitted within required timeframes.
The successful candidate will also need to be able to provide information and advice to school attendance officers and other colleagues on aspects of law relating to irregular school attendance.
Excellent interpersonal skills are necessary as the post holder will need to liaise daily with schools, professionals in other agencies and attend various meetings.
You will be expected to handle sensitive data appropriately and will need to work in a highly organised and efficient way to ensure that the Local Authority meets its statutory and safeguarding responsibilities in relation to this area of work.
You will be required to ensure that schools and attendance officers understand what is required to successfully apply to the Local Authority to institute legal proceedings and ensure that all applications meet high standards of quality.
An ability to be able to explain complex messages to professionals, and on occasion parents, is a necessity, as is the ability to effectively scrutinize paperwork.
