Product Manager Valves Midlands

This role is salaried at £47,500 - £55,000 with a 30 % bonus and includes the following benefits; Company Car, Stakeholders pension, Option for healthcare and phone and laptop

Company Overview

My client is a market leading industrial service partner and manufacturer across Europe. They manufacture and provide a range of valve, actuation and instrumentation solutions across the UK & Europe.

They have over 50 repair facilities across the UK and have a specialist process control and flow division to offer value added service to key customers.

Due to continued growth and they now look to add product manager as part of the senior management team based in the Midlands.

What the role involves :

  • Responsible for the strategy, roadmap, and feature definition of valve and instrumentation product or product lines. Defining the vision, goals and initiatives for valve and instrumentation products.
  • Working with cross-functional teams to include international product management, sales, engineering and marketing, having forecasting and profit and loss responsibilities for the products.
  • Analyse the market and competitive environment to define a differentiated product vision that delivers value to the client and its customers.
  • Understanding customer needs and expectations, applying these to the ongoing development of the product ranges

  • Understand product requirements for all parts of the' organisation and work to define solutions, bridging organisational gaps.
  • Responsible for setting a product vision and strategy for the UK business however with agreement with the International Product Board.
  • Define product development plan and roadmap including all aspects of release from marketing though to sales planning and defining and / or delivering product training.
  • Managing the process of generating, developing, and curating new ideas for new products, services and features, ensuring that these fit the needs of the business and its customers.
  • Responsible for making product decisions and being the lead resource for the rest of the organisation when deep product expertise is required.
  • This includes supporting the marketing, sales and support teams.

  • Evaluate new products on a technical, quality and commercial basis. Ensuring compliance with the company's sustainability policies.
  • Negotiating the best commercial deal for the company with regard to pricing, payments, rebates etc.
  • Travelling to existing and prospective suppliers as defined by management or the International Product Board.
  • Working within and alongside the International Product Team / Board.
  • Travelling to the organisations sites and customers to present products, discuss developments and provide local training and support.
  • Experience required

    The successful product manager will have valve, actuation, instrumentation or flow control product experience. You may already have experience in a product manager position or come from a business development, technical sales, operations or senior management background.

  • Other experience includes;
  • Capability to understand twin business model and develop company strategy in line with long term ambitions
  • Negotiation skills at multiple levels within customer and supplier organisations
  • Ability to communicate effectively both internally and externally
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office, project & CAD
  • Effectively manage time and tasks in order to maximise opportunities and minimise costs
  • Experience and knowledge of relevant markets, products and applications
  • The successful candidate will need to be in the midlands office 2-3 days a week with some working from home ad also travel involved with the role.

    Ideally you will reside in the following areas, Birmingham, Loughborough, Market Harborough, Peterborough, Rugby, Stafford, Derby, Nottingham, Derby, Newark, Corby, Coventry or surrounding areas.

    Long-term prospects are outstanding within this leading manufacturer and service provider both vertically or even horizontally.
