About the team :
Refinery29 is looking for an Associate Creative Director to lead the concepting and the execution of best in class content for a major client and a portfolio of multiple brands (across skincare, cosmetics, and wellness).
In this role, you will be instrumental in driving the re-introduction of a new class of beauty / wellness brands to both existing and potential customers across the UK and US.
The Associate Creative Director is a multi-faceted, highly creative, hyper-collaborative team player who has a strong creative voice and vision.
The ACD will have experience in leading, encouraging, mentoring and drawing out creative ideas from their team. They will be delivering top-
notch execution and ensuring the work aligns with Refinery29’s content principles as well as our brand partners strategy and briefs.
They are an excellent storyteller and presenter and can expertly articulate concepts succinctly and compellingly to our partner brand.
They will help develop and implement a structure to deliver strategic creative projects and use this structure to oversee projects from brief, concepting to final delivery.
They will get’ the Refinery29 aesthetic as well as understand our brand’s partner challenges and be able to integrate both into all executions : from digital products, campaign assets to physical experiences.
They will be collaborative and work closely and alongside the client services, sales and delivery teams, have a great external creative talent contact list (from directors and photographers to make-
up artists and hair stylists) and know how to establish meaningful and fruitful working relationships with other teams.
Lastly, they need to be decisive, thrive in a fast paced environment, have endless ideas and positivity, be solution-focused, have a can-
do attitude and believe that there is a creative solution for every problem thrown their way.
Critically, to be successful in this role, the ACD will need to bring creative inspiration to the creative team and ensure that their ideas and concepts are always evolving and delivered to the best quality, combined with a passion for beauty / wellness brands and Refinery29.
What you’ll do :
You are the day to day creative lead for our partner client
You lead by example and manage the creative team, mentoring and inspiring them to deliver the best work
You Lead ideation of the large-scale, multi-platform / multi-medium briefs (this means coming up with concepts for editorial, photo, video, social, experiential, etc.)
You lead ideation to creating Refinery29’s content as well as our brand partner’s campaign assets across editorial, photo, video, social, experiential, etc.
You direct multiple creative campaigns simultaneously, ensuring creative consistency across all outputs
You work on multiple brands simultaneously but treat them uniquely : unique brands that need time and dedication and continuous creative ideation
You ensure all creative from the department ladders up to and meets a larger brand strategy as well as campaign strategy
You lead execution of the large, multi-disciplinary projects for the brand partner with an eye on unity across mediums and industry-
leading levels of aesthetic excellence & storytelling
You create a meaningful relationships with R29’s brand partner, managing creative communication in the concept stage, pre-
production and on set.
You lead on-set decisions or support your creative team when on set.
You lead your creative team and give them direction and encouragement.
You lead, review, approve all the creative work, outputted from the internal team, designers, commissioned work to ensure creative integrity and consistency
You ensure that the brand needs and wishes are met or you rationalise any push backs in a clear, inspiring and decisive way.
You are confident in questioning, challenging yourself and your teams as well as the teams you are collaborating with and the brand partner to create best in class work
You understand and execute the R29 brand & business vision, creating projects that deliver for R29 clients, brand, and audience
You are a positive people person, motivating those around you to deliver their best work, helping them to build and nurture their ideas and inspire them to think outside of the box.
You possess a true understanding of how to craft and execute compelling storytelling through content for our brand partners, delivering on their business objectives while finding creative solutions for their biggest brand challenges.
You collaborate with editorial, marketing, sales, account management, PM, brand strategy and sales to drive campaigns, processes and workflows to success.
Understand in-flight optimisation of content, always testing, learning and improving the work delivered
You constantly have an eye on all content being executed and a finger on the pulse on trends and new formats and channels.
What you have :
7+ years of experience in digital advertising creating custom content campaigns and / or publisher experience
You have beauty and / or skin care experience and / or you have a true passion for it
Strong creative conceptual and execution ability across digital, social, photo, video, campaign work
Must have a proven track record of impacting brands through creative concepts, while having a passion for content
Top performance record and client facing experience
True understanding of branded content strategy and being able to create conceptual ideas that meet brand strategies and briefs
Ability to direct, amplify and extract the best creative out there
Experience in Keynote, and if not, ability to adapt to that deck formating
Experience with channel strategy from a creative perspective is ideal, and heavy experience in social is a plus
