Job Description

In this role, you have the opportunity to train as an engineering maintenance apprentice, learn to maintain a variety of specialised equipment, undertaking a range of electromechanical preventative and breakdown maintenance.

You need to be flexible and willing to contribute towards improvement activities.

  • You are responsible for;
  • Responding to breakdowns, systematically fault find, and identify root cause and then implement solution to prevent recurrence.
  • Support operations and pro-actively engage with all departments to supply an effective, efficient, compliant service on a right first time basis.

  • Carrying out planned preventative maintenance. Identify and implement continuous improvement opportunities to increase equipment efficiency, effectiveness, reliability and process robustness.
  • Provide engineering support for production activity to meet customer requirements and site operations as required.
  • Actively build internal and external departmental relationships. Support cross functional activity relating to safety, quality, micro and project work with supporting documentation.
  • Maintain skills and knowledge of equipment and changing technologies with training and sharing of best practices with peers and other support groups
  • Participate in company initiatives as subject matter expert’ to seek resolutions to common issues. Engage in knowledge sharing activities with others
  • You will become competent in electrical and mechanical maintenance, learning how to work on all of the machinery at the Tangmere site within facilities, plant, production, warehouse and laboratories
  • You are a part of a team of 6, reporting into the Senior Technician. You will be based in Tangmere, and attend training once per week in Havant for off the job training.

    This apprenticeship will last 48 months.

  • To succeed in this role, you should have the following skills and experience;
  • Electrical and Mechanical aptitude. i.e. ability to understand technical problems
  • Good numerical skills ability to analyse statistical data and identify trends
  • Basic computer skills email, Word processing, Excel etc.
  • Excellent verbal communications skills
  • skills to complete reports with a willingness to explain problems and how they were dealt with clearly and concisely
  • Awareness of health and safety considerations
  • 5 GCSE’s at Grade C (4) or above (or equivalents) including maths, English & science
