The CDO's aim is to share and exploit all of our data whilst driving insight, so we can deliver on our strategy of 'Knowing our Customers Better than anyone else.

The Data Product team plays a critical role in delivering Group technology solutions that provide key data products to our colleagues.

These products enable the business to both access our core Group data whilst providing them with greater insight, supporting them to make more effective decisions.

We are seeking dynamic, passionate leaders to define, iterate and deliver a roadmap within the Data landscape; identifying and translating customer and business needs into workable solutions, delivering value at pace.

This role will be perfect if you are interested in shaping our data products with a multi-million pound impact across millions of customers, over 1000 stores and over 100,000 colleagues.

What you need to do

  • Develop the vision, strategy, roadmap and backlog for your data portfolio; ensuring alignment to our technology strategy and the business / divisional vision & goals across the group
  • Be the champion for your data portfolio - produce / present clear communications to ensure buy-in to what you are aiming to achieve, provide direction on mid / long-term priorities
  • Define and secure capital budget through appropriate financial governance processes; own the benefit / investment case(s) for your data portfolio and manage allocated capital to execute your roadmap
  • Manage your data portfolio end-to-end, prioritising work and making appropriate trade-offs to adapt to changing requirements / new learnings and to deliver maximum value at pace -
  • communicate progress, proactively manage risks & issues and remove blockers

  • Collaborate effectively with engineers, architects, data scientists, Report Analysts, other product teams, across Group, DT and Divisional CDO's, along with 3rd parties to launch new products -
  • maximising re-use across the group

  • Prioritise, coordinate and communicate the resolution of live product issues as required
  • Understand, develop and bring together existing and new technology stacks and interfaces so they work seamlessly for colleagues
  • Use data and insight to make decisions that make the most difference for our colleagues and drive prioritisation of future work
  • Build, lead, coach and motivate a team of Product Managers; support them with the definition and delivery of their own product roadmaps / backlogs and associated benefit / investment cases
  • Collaborate with other Product Leads to ensure consistency, drive group outcomes / shared objectives, and continuously improve product management across the group
  • Drive both your direct reports and squads towards the future CDO vision for Data, developing your data portfolio squads as required to achieve this ambition
  • Coordinate post-launch activities to validate that products work as designed; own assessment of value realisation through post investment reviews
  • Understand and report progress against agreed outcomes and related success measures
  • What you need to know

  • Proven track record of leading delivery of technology led change in cross-functional environments
  • A Strong understanding of Agile delivery and ways of working
  • Extensive experience of product / project / programme management
  • Demonstrable experience of leading and developing teams, directly and cross-functionally
  • Strong communication and influencing skills, particularly at senior levels
  • A detailed understanding of the 'art of the possible' from a data and analytics perspective
  • A strong understanding of the tools and technologies, processes and procedures that bring data 'to life' such as, MicroStrategy, AWS, R, Python, Jira, Confluence, Snowflake"
  • Solid understanding of commercial landscape
  • How to turn business speak in to data & analytics speak and vice versa
  • How to get the best out of people so they feel engaged & valued
  • A good understanding of the retail world and the way a grocery retailer works
