Social Worker - Child Protection / CIN (Children In Need ) - Bradford

As a Social Worker within the Chilp protection / Children in Need Team, you will work with families that have long-term complex issues, require more than three months' intervention, and where children are subject to child protection or child in need plans or where children can no longer live at home and care proceedings need to be initiated.
You will be responsible for building on the relationships with families using systemic and strengths based social work approaches.
Through this you will work alongside families to achieve positive change within the context of managing risk. The work is varied and involves working with Public Law Outline (PLO), taking families into proceedings and first hearing only, Special Guardianship Order (SGO) assessments and Section 7 court reports, reviewing as well as updating assessments and plans for children subject to Children in Need (CIN) or Child Protection (CP).
This role reports to the Team Manager.
About the client
Our client is Bradford Metropolitan District Council. The role in the Children's and Families department is focused on the delivery of services relating to vulnerable children, young people and complex families.
These services will be delivered against specifications set by the People Commissioning function in line with the County Council's overarching outcomes.
Respond flexibly and rapidly to requests for interventions and support packages to maintain young people with their families in the community.
Work closely with colleagues in Children's Specialist Services to monitor and review cases as part of the council's strategy to reduce the number of children and young people becoming looked after by the local authority.
Responsibility for the negotiation and allocation of appropriate service provision to clients and their families : through the determination of service provision contracts with providers, ensuring that the complex needs of users are met, providing value for money.
Work to meet the standards required to fulfil Section 17 and 47 reports
Initiate and attend court proceedings where appropriate. Writing court reports as required
Write child protection plans, make statutory visits and review care plans
Ensure the implementation and co-ordination of complex assessments, the purchase of agreed packages of care and the monitoring of service contracts, in partnership with the users / carers and advocates.
Work closely with other Council Departments and statutory and independent agencies to meet the complex needs of service users and their carers.
Attend Court as the officer of the Council.
What we need from you
Degree or equivalent in social work
Current HCPC registration
Significant senior level frontline experience within children's services
2 years post qualified with experience within local authority child protection teams
