You are invited to apply for the full-time post of Audio Visual Technician with the AV Services team, which is part of the Media Services Team within the University’s Information Technology Services.
You will be part of a team that provides a broad range of audio / visual expertise and support for University staff, NHS staff and external clients.
Including checking and monitoring of AV and IT equipment at University sites.
You will be Involved in the day to day setup, operation and oversight of Audio Visual equipment, acting as first line support to customers with technical problems and queries from across the University and external clients in the effective use and operation of the facilities.
This includes logging calls, resolving calls if appropriate and providing progress reports as requested.
You will carry out day to day checking of equipment in teaching spaces and to record the results of the checks. To report any issues to a supervisor so that they can be dealt with quickly by others.
Support calls to be generated from any issues. This equipment may include Audio Visual equipment in teaching spaces, meeting spaces and may also include other equipment such as centrally connected printers and replacement of consumables where required.
You will have ONC or equivalent qualification and will have experience of working in a support role, preferably including support for the use of IT.
Experience of working in a higher or further education environment would be an advantage. You must be competent in the use of MS Office applications, depth of IT knowledge is not essential, but you should be comfortable with technologies and adaptable.
Good communication skills are essential. You must be able to explain things clearly, in a non-technical and supportive manner.
You should have a service-oriented outlook and approach and feel comfortable talking to all types of people. Good listening skills are essential.
You should be able to empathise and understand customer requirements. Good writing skills are also required.
Salary will be at the appropriate point on the Grade 3 scale (£19,202-£22,017 per annum), with placement according to qualifications and experience.
