Job Summary :

We are seeking an experienced Communications Supervisor to join our UK Communications team on a permanent basis.

The Communications Supervisor is tasked to deliver consumer communications in the UK for its key media platforms including Disney Channels, classic character franchises such as Winnie-

the-Pooh and various company-wide initiatives. The Communications Supervisor will also be responsible for priority press office activity.

The candidate needs to be a strong all-rounder who loves securing media coverage and managing campaigns. This role needs someone who is confident, and bursting with ideas and contacts!

Media :

Maintain excellent contacts with the media and relevant industry partners, and constantly develop new opportunities to grow network

Devise creative story angles, news hooks and stunt ideas, whilst proactively seeking out media opportunities and delivering consistent stand-

out coverage across key media sectors

Draft creative media materials with minimal input from line managers

Monitor the media and escalate stories that represent risks or opportunities to Disney

Build relationships with the wider Comms team to ensure contacts are shared effectively to maximise benefits for Disney

Campaign delivery :

Support on key campaigns, showcases and channel talent tours in the UK events

Create clear, timely and focussed plans for projects in partnership with line managers to generate traditional, digital and social media coverage

Pre-empt potential problem areas and flag concerns to line managers with appropriate solutions

Lead appropriate campaign status meetings with external teams (where relevant)

Showcase the campaign work of the Disney UK communications team to internal stakeholders by sharing key coverage as it appears and creating wrap up reports

Press Office Management :

Seek out the latest innovations and look at ways in which current approaches and practices can be enhanced and developed to support the success of the team and the wider business

Day-to-day running of the press office for Disney’s TV Content and relevant franchise products (in partnership with the Retail Supervisor) : -

Internal Communications :

Work with UK Internal Comms team to ensure that all announcements, events and success stories are shared in good time and that all campaigns have an Internal Comms plan

Provide other divisions with appropriate information when necessary

Maintain regular dialogue with UK Marketing, Digital, Social and Franchise teams to ensure all press opportunities are maximised across campaigns

Input and manage all internal reports on behalf of the Content and relevant franchise teams, working with the UK Comms Coordinator

Relationship Management :

Build and manage successful relationships with media and agency partners as well as internal stakeholders

Team Management :

Help manage the UK Communications Coordinator and Intern, and provide guidance and counsel

Basic Qualifications :

Suitable candidates will possess the following skills and experience :

Graduate level education preferred with relevant experience

Able to manage the day-to-day activities of a press office and experience of drafting and implementing plans

Demonstrable ability to run projects such as campaigns and events

A good understanding of competitor brands and the wider sector agenda to enable the individual to spot opportunities for the Disney organisation

A good understanding of the Disney organisation so that opportunities can be spotted and the broader implications of decisions can be understood

Very strong writing skills and experience of drafting press releases

Advanced media knowledge with a good network of contacts in the industry

Experience of working on national campaigns and of working with external 3rd parties inc. basic negotiation and contracting
