About the Team

The s provide proactive services for all managed customers, monitoring server infrastructure, raising incidents and processing change requests as well as working with 3rd party vendors, such as BT and HP, will also be required as part of the support operations.

About the Role

The role includes responding to alarms from the management system, logging tickets in the Service Management System, performing technical triage, diagnostics, and incident resolution.

The day to day activities include working with the O2 Unify Service Desk, Tier 3 Support, and field service organisations.

The Platform Engineer must have good communication skills, liaising with customer representatives, Service Delivery Managers, and internal stakeholders.

Each individual needs to be a well organised self-starter, with the ability to manage their own workload and a good attention to detail.

The O2 Unify NOC operates 12 hour shift patterns, alternating between day shifts (07 : 00 19 : 00) and night shifts (19 : 00 07 : 00) in a 4 shifts on and shift shifts off cycle.

The Platform Engineer should have solid experience and understanding of server and Windows OS technologies and have discipline to follow the required support processes and procedures.

There will be extensive learning on the job opportunities and each individual should demonstrate an interest to further enhance technical skills and certifications

Key Responsibilities

The Platform Engineer will have responsibility for :

  • Monitoring of server physical and VMware / virtualisation instances as well as applications and related Data Centre network infrastructure
  • Fault diagnostics and incident resolution within contractual SLAs
  • Engaging with hardware maintainers like HP.
  • Updating Service Management tickets in English and in a clear and concise way.
  • Plan and deliver customer change request
  • Routine Data Centre operational checks
  • Communicating with internal and external stakeholders
  • Implementation and decommissioning tasks
  • Adherence to support processes and procedures
  • Creating and maintaining support documentation
  • Knowledge transfer and on-the-job training to peer group
  • Provide excellent customer experience and satisfaction
  • Skills & Experience

  • Prior experience of working in a NOC or managed services environment
  • Knowledge of corporate anti-virus technologies
  • Ability to work as part of a team or autonomously within a 24 x 7 shift pattern
  • Sound diagnostic capabilities and basic fault resolution
  • Good understanding of Windows Server and troubleshooting.
  • Must have working knowledge of Active Directory, DNS, CA, and other core components of a Windows infrastructure.
  • Experience with ITIL processes for Incident, Problem, and Change management
  • Experience troubleshooting client- and server-side issues related to Exchange and Lync / Skype for Business
  • Experience managing SSL certificates in on-premise, hybrid, and hosted Microsoft Exchange / Lync environments
  • Good Understanding of windows securities and patching technologies
