Freight & Logistics Manager

£60-70k + Benefits

Our client is looking for a Logistics Manager who has specific background in managing 3PL / Freight / Transport Providers.

Must have experience of managing a 3PL spend, putting supplier contracts / agreements in place and managing performance reviews.

Job Purpose

To own and manage regional transportation carrier selection process while managing day to day transportation performance

Key Duties

  • Responsible for managing carriers and carrier contracts throughout region, as well as the tender review process, to ensure cost and service are controlled within budgeted and KPI targets.
  • Manage annual outbound spend of £30M and £6M inbound

  • Implement and maintain European regional transportation strategy that delivers on budget and customer requirements.
  • Develop the suite of freight metrics which will measure the KPI’s on a daily / weekly / monthly basis to industry best in class
  • Develop & implement, through the extended Supply Chain, a robust inbound carriage policy to ensure that inbound product is being shipped into the business at the most cost effective method and in line with delivery expectations
  • Undertake regular performance reviews with the carrier, the Sales and Marketing teams along with Freight team
  • Responsible for the management of EU outbound and inbound freight spend (£36M annual) and service levels associated with customer deliveries and intercompany freight movements
  • To work with internal Operations staff, DC Managers, Regional Sales and Marketing teams and Carriers to develop and implement logistic improvement plans.
  • Lead and assist in the identification of opportunities for improvements in operational efficiencies, effectiveness, contingency and compliance associated with transportation
  • Candidate Requirements

  • Significant experience of managing multi-million pound transportation contracts
  • Knowledge of European regional transportation strategy
  • Excellent negotiating and networking skills
  • Have excellent analytical skills with the ability to identify the root cause of failure and implement strategies to remove future risk
  • Able to work in a fast paced environment
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to influence at all levels
  • Excellent time management and organisational ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously
  • Work with cross functional leaders to identify areas of opportunity and implement necessary improvements
