ASC Connections, specialists in Engineering Recruitment; are seeking a Mechanical Maintenance Engineer / Fitter to work for our client in Huntingdon, Cambridgeshire.
Role Description :
Carry out preventative maintenance and fault finding on production equipment / machines and building services.
Key Responsibilities :
Carry out routine scheduled maintenance work and responding to equipment errors
Fit new parts and making sure equipment is working properly
Deal with emergencies, unplanned problems and repairs
Work within a chemical (Hazardous substance) / DSEAR site
Strive to optimise plant performance, utilisation and availability
Manage spare parts for any allocated equipment and follow up on improvement activity
Assist with maintenance plans
Assist production teams and modify equipment in order to enhance manufacturing efficiencies and Health & Safety improvements
Install new equipment
Complement company's fire wardens' team to ensure a smooth and safe evacuation of premises whilst maintaining company emergency procedures
Complement company's emergency chemical spill team, give direction and support to ensure a smooth and safe evacuation of premises whilst maintaining company emergency policy
Maintain all production machinery and plant services equipment, including breakdown maintenance
Complete proactive planned mechanical maintenance checks / tasks to schedule and log activity on relevant systems
Be conversant with and assume proper responsibility for the implementation of the company's health, safety, quality and environmental policies and all other company policies, rules and arrangements, demonstrating a responsible attitude to fellow employees, customers and suppliers of the company, leading by example and taking appropriate action where required
Any additional work identified as necessary for the smooth operation of the business
Hands on mechanical experience in a manufacturing environment
Education and Qualifications :
NVQ level 3 in Engineering or equivalent required
Strong interpersonal skills to gain agreement and acceptance of others, including colleagues, senior managers and customers
Skills and Knowledge :
Knowledge of the principles and practice of effective project management and in the use of quality systems, or preparing and controlling programmes of work
Knowledge of health and safety legislation and good practice appropriate to manufacturing activities
Good communication skills with production staff are essential
Good negotiating skills
Any additional factors :
Ability to make decisions and solve problems to meet operational targets, involving devising solutions and prioritising the resources available
Ability to meet agreed objectives and delivery targets by the effective use of resources
High level planning and organisational skills
Ability to deliver projects and programmes on time and to budget whilst managing heavy workloads and conflicting demands
Valid UK Driving licence
Self-motivated with an ability to work on own initiative or as part of the team
The Hours and Benefits :
