Our Environment, Maritime & Resilience business provides a focus foradvising our clients on sustainability issues including renewable energy, lowcarbon economies, impacts of climate change and waste and resource management.

Our environmental capabilities comprise of in excess of 1000 staff basedpredominantly in the UK, but with reach into the Middle East and in India.

EnvironmentMaritime & Resilience (EMR) would like to recruit a H&S Advisor tosupport the existing EMR H&S Manager. The location of this role can be flexible.

The purpose of the role is to provide adminsupport and HSE advice, guidance andassurance to various EMR teams within UK Infrastructure in support of our'BeyondZero' culture of care.

Thesuccessful candidate will take personal ownership and responsibility forprotecting people from harm, and for implementing strategies that driveperformance and support continuous improvement.

The post-holder may also be required toassist in the management and delivery of our new Positive Mental HealthStrategy.

The post-holder will responsible to the EMRH&S Manager providing pro-active assistance in H&S management andassurance including :

  • Assist with the management and checking of bidsubmissions
  • Review of safety documents including RAMS and HSEPlans
  • Have good links with the wider business
  • Be creative in helping to develop H&S materialsetc.
  • Assess H&S data and support weekly and monthlyreporting
  • Be enthusiastic and able to deliver quality outputsindependently
  • Assist project teams as necessary to ensure thatall projects are safety driven and all environmental impacts are assessed
  • Assist with site, laboratory and office visits,safety tours and Safety Evaluations
  • Undertake project specific audits, safety tours andassessments as required and agreed with project managers, at both sites andoffices
  • Promote best practice in all elements of HSE
  • Assist in the development of the Jacobs SafetyManagement System to ensure compliance with all aspects of health, safety andenvironmental legislation
  • Provide in-house training in Jacobs processes andprocedures to employees as required (HSE Awareness, Graduate programme, CDM,Risk Assessment, I2BZ etc.)
  • Qualifications

    Technical / Qualifications

    The post is for early to mid-career staffwho would like to develop a career in Health and Safety.A safety qualification is desirable.

    Experience in report writing and anexcellent standard of written communication is desired.

    The candidate will need to demonstrate :

  • a willingness to learn and apply that knowledge,
  • the ability to engage and influence other membersof staff,
  • the ability to work as part of a team,
  • a desire to progress their career,
  • good IT skills including JacobsConnect, Powerpointand Excel / spreadsheet programme skills.
