We have the track record and systems necessary to pursue and deliver large-scale and complex projects.

WorleyParsons Northern Operations is a core service for brownfield operations focused on the delivery of major projects, upgrades, debottlenecking, project portfolio management and support services to sustain our customer’s assets and improve business performance.

We are currently sourcing a SENIOR INSTRUMENT ENGINEER to join the Teesside Office on an agency contract hire basis.

You will need to be an EC&I Engineer experienced in integrated design, engineering, procurement and project management services for the Chemical, Oil & Gas sectors.

  • Candidates must have right to work in UK already in place. Non EU Applicants not considered.
  • Location : Billingham, UK
  • Estimated Duration : 3 months for the current work scope, but follow on work is likely
  • You will provide C&I engineering services on small scale projects to WorleyParsons and its customers. You will be an integral member of a project based team providing technical expertise to deliver safe and cost effective process plants.

    You will be expected to build strong relationships with clients and help to grow the workload by self-selling your skills with the clients.

    The candidate should have :

  • Experience of EC&I engineering in a wide range of process plants (Petro Chem, Oil & Gas and Chemical) with an emphasis in the Chemical, Oil & Gas sectors brownfield sites.
  • Good interpersonal skills
  • Confidence to interface with the client
  • Good working knowledge of ATEX and hazardous area applications
  • Significant experience in Chemical brownfield engineering projects.
  • Experience of Fire and gas detection systems is an advantage but not essential.
  • Experience of DCS, ESD systems is required.
  • Familiarity with IEC 61508 / 61511 is required, but formal accreditation as a Functional Safety Engineer (FSEng) is not essential.
  • Responsibilities

  • Plan the discipline work scopes, with CTR (man hour estimate) definition and schedule
  • Be able to work across the whole discipline, with appropriate support from colleagues when needed
  • Understand, develop and communicate planning activities to the team to achieve common goals and monitors progress. Allocation of resources available to ensure completion of tasks based on the overall project priorities.
  • Prepare engineering deliverables in accordance with Company processes, procedures, work instructions, departmental standards and current legislation
  • Develop the full scope of the project including FEED, detail design, procurement, installation inspection, testing and commissioning
  • Prepare technical specifications, drawings, material requisitions, work scopes.
  • Review vendor documents / drawings / test procedure & certificates / operating manuals / design books / engineering data books etc.
  • in accordance with the project design specification

  • Manage the allocated hours, budgets and report progress to the project manager
  • Undertake EC&I engineering design work in with true regard to Safety both in design detail and engineering design execution
  • Be innovative in design work with due regard to minimisation of cost whilst maintaining technical integrity
  • Clearly understand the Codes and Standards applicable to the work carried out and raise deviations where necessary
  • Promote good communications and co-ordination within the project team, other disciplines, current and prospective customers.

    Technical and Industry Experience :

  • Excellent technical and practical engineering skills and ability to consistently deliver quality, accurate and timely work to WorleyParsons and its clients.
  • Excellent knowledge of the fundamental requirements of the EC&I engineering, and the basic requirements of other engineering disciplines.
  • Excellent knowledge of applicable local / international standards and statutory / regulatory specifications.
  • Competent use of relevant software such as Microsoft Office and other appropriate engineering specific software.
  • Extensive technical and practical EC&I electrical engineering experience in the Chemical sector including experience in working in multi-
  • disciplinary projects and teams.

  • Producing detailed design deliverables on brownfield operating sites to support work scopes for installation contractors
  • Education Qualifications, Accreditation, Training Required :

  • Ideally with a recognized and relevant engineering degree
  • Ideally with Chartered Professional Engineer (CEng) status, or working towards it
