Transparent materials are essential because the human perception is principally conceived through the vision sense. Advanced transparent materials have gradually replaced their traditional counterparts, for example, glass, in many technological applications where conventional materials are infeasible and unsuitable, especially in the subjects of protective armors, optical lenses and laser equipment.
In this proposal, a novel material for the application to transparent armors will be developed to enhance the performance of complex systems with high transparency and impact resistance.
The aims of this research will include five aspects :
4. Investigating the properties of adhesive layers (adhesive function) used to stitch the multi-layers of the complex system and achieve the shock-resistant function.
5. Validating the optimal design by numerical simulations and experimental tests.
Funding Notes : This PhD project is offered on a self-funding basis. It is open to applicants with funding or those applying to funding sources.

A bench fee is also payable on top of the tuition fee to cover specialist equipment or laboratory costs required for the research.
