The firm

A leading UK law firm with a network of offices from the South Coast to Scotland, working together as one national team.

An innovative practice and the first top 100 law firm to achieve Gold Standard Investors in People, our values and culture are not just words on our website but are the heartbeat of the firm.

The lack of barriers between departments, a real lack of hierarchy, zero tolerance for arrogance and pomposity makes Shoosmiths a fantastic place to work.

The team

Shoosmiths' 6-partner national construction and engineering team advises on all aspects of projects, from strategic advice on procurement and institutional and market expectations at project inception, to contentious issues during and after the completion.

We have a fast-growing team, mainly based in Birmingham, but with other lawyers in Manchester, Leeds and London.

The role

With an increase in work from existing and new clients including developers, contractors, sub-contractors, consultants, and funding institutions, growth is very much on the agenda for our Birmingham-based team.

We are eager to speak with construction lawyers with experience in contentious work and advice, looking to make their next move.

Many of our construction partners and team members have previously worked in-house for major industry players, and so candidates with backgrounds in private practice or industry are equally of interest.

Commercial or real estate litigators who have a genuine interest in developing into construction disputes specialists will also be considered.

Although the workload will be predominantly contentious, some transactional work may also be available for candidates who require it.

Equal opportunities

Shoosmiths is a committed Equal Opportunities employer promoting equality of opportunity. This means that everyone who either applies to or works for the firm is treated equally, whatever their gender, age, ethnic origin, nationality, marital status, disability, sexual orientation or religious beliefs.
