Accurately, efficiently and comprehensively type dictated letters and file in patient notes.
To produce other general correspondence, which may include distressing or emotional contents, e.g. discharge summaries and miscellaneous reports as required, ensuring all correspondence meets formatting standards.
Deal with telephone queries from patients and General Practitioners wherever necessary ensuring the callers' needs are clearly established, accurate messages taken and passed on promptly, and callers are passed on to other colleagues when appropriate.
To take any follow up action as agreed with a caller and to keep them informed of any outcomes.
To have the ability to retrieve information from hospital support systems,(e.g.) access and navigate Practice Manager (DGL) in order to obtain information on outpatient appointments, and access and navigate systems to obtain test results.
Follow the agreed booking process for outpatient and inpatient / day case appointments and work with the Bookings Team to ensure that these are received in a timely and efficient manner.
Adopt a suitable level of communication and avoid jargon to facilitate understanding by the listener.
Receive and relay factual information correctly and promptly

Assist in maintaining stock levels of consumables for the department
