UNIVERSITY OF CAMBRIDGEDEPARTMENT OF VETERINARY MEDICINEWEST CAMBRIDGE SITE
We have an exciting opportunity for a Qualified Veterinary Nurse to join us from 1st July 2018 or as soon as possible after that date.
The role will be to provide nursing to an excellent standard for the Queen's Veterinary School Hospital, to meet the needs of the service in the Small Animal Wing and Theatre Suites.
The role holder will be expected to be flexible and will work in both areas as the need arises. However, the role will predominantly be based in Theatres.
The referral hospital is a very fast-paced environment which requires the role holder to be adaptable with the ability to work well under pressure.
The role in Small Animal inpatients will include surgical, medical and critical care nursing (training can be given in critical care procedures).
Cleaning, hygiene and administration duties linked to inpatient care will form a reasonable percentage of the working day.
On call and weekend duties as required, as this post is fully flexible and may assist the hospital to cover maternity leave periods, out of hours work may not be required for some periods of employment.
When out of hours work is required it will be on a rota basis and good notice of requirements would be given.
The role in the Theatre suites will provide pre, intraoperative and post-operative care of surgical patients, medical diagnostics and administration duties linked to each case, various cleaning and hygiene duties and to undertake on call and weekend duties on a rota basis to meet the demands of the business.
This is a varied role where no two days are the same, so we are seeking someone with a passion for nursing, with the ability to communicate with all levels of staff, students and clients.
The ability to work within a team and work well under pressure are essential.
