Our team in RoI have created an exciting new offering for Trainee Technicians / Apprentices to join our engineering operations team in the Waterford and Cork region.

You'll perform reactive and preventative node site maintenance as per vendor documentation to pre-defined service level agreements on a 24 hour call out basis in accordance to service requests to sustain and improve the quality of service on the IP, Data and Voice switching and transmission elements that constitute Company / partner networks.
During the first two years, the role will include participating in an extensive training program covering application training, on-
site learning, shadowing and accreditation. The training will cover working with fibre optics, radio networking, fundamentals of transmission networks, IP and optical networking topics, routers, hubs and sniffers, Mobile telephony networks, vendor training, Trouble shooting and fault finding, electrical awareness.
In addition it will cover Health and Safety training such as SafePass, First Aid, climbing and incident management.
What you'll be doing
Undertake a 2 year programme of up-skilling and training to enable the candidate to undertake all the tasks necessary on BT / Vendor networks and infrastructure.
This will include attaining all requisite accreditations.
Assist in the management of major incidents and the generation of reports following established procedures.
Liaise with other field agents and interface with customers, driving system optimisation.
Install new systems, maintenance of equipment; perform upgrades and modifications to existing equipment.
Perform cable placement, including terminations, patching and jumpering
Help provide reports on operational, technical and service issues.
Have the natural ability to take ownership of issues and follow through to resolution

Willingness to undertake comprehensive training programme in Telecoms Engineering

A demonstrated ability to work as part of a large geographically dispersed team.
Good troubleshooting skills with the ability to think on your feet.
Willingness to work on an on call basis as required.
A current, valid, driving license is essential.
