I am currently recruiting for a Portfolio / Risk Manager to work with one of the UK's leading banks in London

The role holder will have direct responsibility over a number of procedural, regulatory, investment and risk matters within the Wealth Investment Office.

He or she will be a key member of the WIO team in dealing with the management of the outsourced investment management services.

Key activities will include :

  • Support one or more investment related projects including out sourcing of key aspects of the investment management process and consequent risk and governance management
  • Support the governance framework in relation to regulatory / legal projects and, liaise and cooperate with Risk and Compliance as required.
  • Provide effective investment oversight of the 3rd party manager including :
  • Monitoring portfolio performance, mandate adherence, including absolute and relative risk measures
  • Enhanced oversight of funds where Wealth has a material holding
  • Suitability assessment of new and existing funds from a customer perspective
  • Work effectively with other team members and provide cover for other members of the team in regulatory / governance and oversight matters.
  • Regular briefing of Wealth Risk and Compliance teams with respect to the effective oversight of the Outsourced service provider.
  • Cooperate to produce reviews / audits at the request of the Risk Directorate.

  • Provide support to requests to contribute to consultations by external bodies, prepare and facilitate inspection visits from regulatory bodies and internal audit functions.
  • Back fill a colleague (seconded to a project) if required to ensure continuity of key activities and deliverables
  • Experience, Skills, Capabilities required

  • Experienced investment professional with previous experience in asset / investment management across a broad range of product but specifically portfolio management, with associated qualifications.
  • Strong knowledge of fund management processes, instruments and products.
  • Strong knowledge of risk practices and regulatory environment, with specific focus over conduct risk and potentially operational risk within financial institutions
  • Strong knowledge of Investment Risk Management in the context of portfolio management
  • High attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication skills both written and oral and ability to communicate with senior management. Previous experience in liaising with the regulator would be advantageous.
  • Ability to work in a complex organisations and ability to understand the commercial angle in the decision making process.
  • Excellent planning and organisational skills. Experience in leading and bringing to completion complex projects would be advantageous.
  • University degree in economics, law or finance.
