After exciting internal changes within our procurement team, we are now looking for a Contracts Officer to join our team in London.

The Contracts Officer will maintain a close eye on Mencap’s contracts for the supply of goods and services, ensuring the timing and integrity of the department’s work is of demonstrably high quality, liaising with procurement colleagues and other departments to do so.

As we are a busy bunch, we need someone who can hit the ground running. But we also need someone with strong experience of either working in a similar procurement role or a PA / administration / coordinator one with sound knowledge of procurement that could add value to the tasks below.

A basic understanding of contract law would be advantageous.

This role is extremely varied so requires an individual that can maintain strong and effective relationships whilst multi-

tasking, prioritising, taking direction and working on their own initiative.

The Contracts Officer will be working independently and will be managed by the Assistant Procurement Manager who is based outside of the office.

Although there is a team in London, it is important that the successful individual can work autonomously. Role duties include but are not limited to :

  • Develop, improve and support the implementation of contracting procedures to meet directorate, corporate and legal requirements
  • Support the Buyers and Senior Buyers in the scheduling of tender process as well as subsequent preparation, analysing, evaluating and award
  • Assist in the scheduling and running of conduct regular contract service reviews with suppliers and support / report on aspects of non-
  • performance throughout the contract period

  • Invite / share ideas and feedback from stakeholder / customers / suppliers and the team to be used to effectively improve contract performance and remedy issues
  • Log, monitor and report on contracts / requirements and other relevant information
  • Build and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders / customers and represent the team as required
  • Analyse and report on data whilst suggesting improvements
