Exciting opportunity for a Driver to join the team at Selwyn Heights Village in Hillsborough!
We require a competent and experienced driver to drive the residents around the city in our modern vans. The van driver's job is to assist residents while they board the vehicle, drive them to the shops, on outings and to venues within the city and further afield on occasions.

Reporting to the Assistant Village Manager and working very closely with hospitality / residential services and diversional therapist who schedule the trips, you'll be taking responsibility for the residents' welfare and enjoyment of their time away from the village.
Specific duties include :
assisting residents into and out of the vehicle with their shopping bags assisting people in wheelchairs on the tail-lifter of the van and into the van
driving them in safety and comfort to their destination and back to the village
ensuring they are comfortable and happy on their trip
cleaning the van regularly and making sure it's well presented
ensuring the vehicle is maintained : checking water and tyre pressures, washer fluid etc in consultation with the maintenance manager
maintaining a log book of all van use
You'll be well supported and assisted by other staff and your managers but you must be able to work independently and unsupervised.
This is a permanent part-time role working approximately 14 - 16 hours a week. Flexibility is essential. The hours worked are normally between 9 : 30am and 4pm, two to three days a week.
Other requirements include :
a current Class 1 driver's license and several years of driving experience
a clean driving record
the skill and ability to drive gently and steadily for the sake of the passengers
good English skills : good at listening and talking with residents
a high standard of personal presentation and hygiene
an empathetic and caring nature, being thoughtful and patient with older people
You don't need a passenger vehicle license P endorsement to drive our vans.
If you have a passion for customer service, can demonstrate your ability to work well with others and care for older people and if you have proven experience as a very good driver we are keen to hear from you.
You will need to undergo a practical driving test with one of our staff.
